nantucket-sinks-18-square-dual-mount-fireclay-kitchen-sink
Nantucket Sinks 18" Square Dual-Mount Fireclay Kitchen Sink

The Nantucket Sinks 18" Square Dual-Mount Fireclay Kitchen Sink comes in 3 versions: White, Matte Grey or Matte Black color. Pick your options above to open the exact model, with its own price and details. The details below are for the White version.

The Nantucket Sinks Wellfleet-1818W is an 18" square white fireclay sink that can be undermounted or topmounted, a petite bowl made for smaller island applications, a bar or a prep station. It gives a kitchen with a main fireclay sink a matching second sink, in classic white glaze, without an apron.

The 15" x 15" square bowl slopes and tapers gently to the bottom so water runs to the 3.5" center drain opening, and a protective bottom grid and a stainless steel finish drain are included. The top edge is finished in glaze, so the sink can be reveal mounted with its rim showing, undermounted, or topmounted as a drop-in.

Fireclay is a natural material that needs fewer cleansers. Dimensions are nominal, so the opening is cut from the actual sink. Nantucket specifies professional installation; mounting hardware is not included.

The Wellfleet-1818 comes in white, matte black and matte grey, and pairs with the larger Wellfleet-3419, Wellfleet-3218W and the Cape farmhouse sinks as the small second sink in an island or bar.

Fit, Mounting and Plumbing

Because it is a dual-mount fireclay sink rather than an apron front, it can sit on a standard cabinet: it needs a base cabinet of at least 21", a 2x4 support frame inside to carry its weight (40 lbs), and room behind it for the faucet (it has no faucet holes, so the faucet goes on the countertop or the wall). The drain opening takes a standard kitchen drain. Nantucket's dual-mount fireclay guide asks for no less than 3" between the back of the sink and the rear cabinet wall so there is room for the faucet, and it recommends professional installation. The countertop opening is cut from the actual sink.

Caring for Fireclay

Fireclay is fired at high temperature under a glaze that lets food stains wipe away and will not rust. Day to day it needs only a mild cleaner and a soft cloth; Nantucket suggests baking soda for stuck-on food, Soft Scrub or a Scotch-Brite sponge for a rare mark, and a little carnauba wax now and then. Nantucket's fireclay care guide calls the material easy and low maintenance, and in hard water areas a quick dry with a cloth prevents spotting.

Whether it is the main sink or a second prep or bar sink, the Nantucket Sinks Wellfleet-1818W brings the look and easy care of a fireclay kitchen sink to an island, a bar or a smaller kitchen.

Features

Petite 18" Square
At 18" x 18" x 8.5" with a 15" x 15" x 7.875" bowl, it fits a 21" base, sized for islands, bars and prep areas.

Classic White Glaze
The white porcelain enamel glaze matches white farmhouse and Wellfleet sinks elsewhere in the kitchen and wipes clean with a mild cleaner.

Undermount or Topmount
The dual-mount design installs below a stone counter or drops into a cutout from above, so it works in a new island or a retrofit.

Grid and Drain Included
A protective bottom grid and a stainless steel finish drain ship with the sink, so it is ready to use once installed.

Sloped, Tapered Bowl
The square basin slopes and tapers gently to the bottom, so water heads straight for the center drain and the bowl rinses clean.

Rust-Proof Glazed Fireclay
Glazed fireclay contains no metal, so it will not rust, and food stains wipe from the glaze with a mild cleaner and a soft cloth.

Specifications

Model: Wellfleet-1818W

Collection: Cape Collection

Material: Fireclay

Finish: Porcelain Enamel Glaze

Color: White

Mount: Dual-mount (topmount or undermount)

Bowls: Single

Shape: Square

Exterior Dimensions: 18" x 18" x 8.5"

Interior Dimensions: 15" x 15" x 7.875"

Bowl Depth: 7.875"

Faucet Holes: None

Overflow: No

Drain Opening: 3.5"

Drain Position: Center

Drain Included: Yes

Minimum Cabinet: 21"

Bottom Grid: Included (not sold separately)

Weight: 40 lbs

Country of Origin: Portugal

Warranty: 5-year limited

California Prop 65: Warning: contains Lead, Di(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP), Nickel Compounds, chemicals listed under California Proposition 65. Soak stuck-on food to loosen it, using baking soda if needed, and lift a rare surface stain with Soft Scrub or a Scotch-Brite sponge. An occasional coat of carnauba wax adds protection and helps water run off. Fireclay contains no metal, so it will not rust.
