This SteamSpa 9 kW steam shower generator turns a sealed shower enclosure of about 84 to 140 ft³ into a home steam room, and it suits a household that wants to start the steam from outside the shower and adjust it from inside, with color lighting and a water filter already in the box.

The Royal package has two touch control panels: one inside the steam room and one outside, so you can start the generator from outside and adjust the steam from inside the room. SteamSpa's QuickStart technology brings steam in about 1 to 2 minutes, and the dual-tank design keeps it flowing without interruption. Either panel sets the steam time from 1 to 60 minutes and stores two favorite settings as SET1 and SET2, and the panels keep a real-time clock and switch between °F and °C. When the room reaches your temperature, the steam stops.

Sized for 84 to 140 ft³ Showers

SteamSpa's sizing chart lists 9 kW for cabins from 3' x 4' x 7' (84 ft³) through 3' x 5' x 7' (105 ft³), 4' x 4' x 7' (112 ft³) and 3' x 6' x 7' (126 ft³) up to 4' x 5' x 7' (140 ft³). SteamSpa adds that it is safe, and even recommended, to choose one size step above what the chart shows. At 9 kW the generator suits a mid-size walk-in shower or a shower with a bench, and because the steam is produced outside the enclosure, the shower itself only needs its steamhead, a control and a properly sealed enclosure.

Chromatherapy Light and Water Filter

A multi-mode LED chromatherapy light sits in the ceiling of the steam room and adds color to the session, and steam enters through a gold steamhead that releases scent into the mist, and the box includes aroma oil. An inline water filter is included too: it sits on the water supply and traps rust, sediment and scale-forming minerals before they reach the tank, which protects the heating elements and is something SteamSpa requires on every installation. SteamSpa recommends pairing this package with its SSD-STMKIT Complete Essentials Installation Kit, which gathers a solid brass pressure reducing valve with gauge, a water shut-off valve, a 20" steel flex hose, the unions that form a quick release system and 90 degree elbows for the steam line.

Relief Valve and Tank Drain

This version has no AutoDrain, so the tank is emptied through the manual drain valve; the RYT900GD-A model adds AutoDrain. The generator measures 15.75" W x 6.30" D x 14.57" H and holds 160 in³ of water, building steam at 4 psi, and a pressure relief valve opens automatically if the tank pressure ever passes 15 psi. The generator has a hanging groove for wall mounting and must be installed level, so its water level sensor reads correctly.

Power, Plumbing and Placement

Plan the power and plumbing before the walls close. At 9 kW the generator draws 38A at 240V single phase on 8 AWG copper wire, with its own breaker and a power disconnect within sight of the unit, and it can sit in a closet behind the shower, a vanity cabinet, the attic or the basement, as long as it stays indoors, dry, protected from freezing and less than 25' from the steam room.

With about 84 to 140 ft³ of steam room in reach and a gold steamhead in the shower, the SteamSpa RYT900GD gives you a complete 9 kW steam shower package from one brand, ready for a licensed electrician and plumber to install.

Features

9 kW for 84 to 140 ft³
SteamSpa's sizing chart matches 9 kW to a mid-size walk-in shower or a shower with a bench of about 84 to 140 ft³, so the generator is matched to the room's volume; About every six months, a technician can remove the cover and clean scale off the water level sensor prong. Wipe the steamhead with soapy water and a soft sponge, never with harsh chemicals or abrasive tools.
