This SteamSpa 12 kW steam shower generator turns a sealed shower enclosure of about 147 to 315 ft³ into a home steam room, and it suits a household that wants control from inside and outside the shower, color lighting, a water filter and square steamhead styling in one package.

The Royal package has two touch control panels: one inside the steam room and one outside, so you can start the generator from outside and adjust the steam from inside the room. SteamSpa's QuickStart technology brings steam in about 1 to 2 minutes, and the dual-tank design keeps it flowing without interruption. Either panel sets the steam time from 1 to 60 minutes and stores two favorite settings as SET1 and SET2, and the panels keep a real-time clock and switch between °F and °C. When the room reaches your temperature, the steam stops.

Sized for 147 to 315 ft³ Steam Rooms

SteamSpa's sizing chart lists 12 kW for cabins from 3' x 7' x 7' (147 ft³) and 4' x 6' x 7' (168 ft³) all the way up to 5' x 9' x 7' (315 ft³), the largest room on its single-generator chart. SteamSpa adds that it is safe, and even recommended, to choose one size step above what the chart shows. At 12 kW the generator suits a large steam shower or a two-person steam room, and because the steam is produced outside the enclosure, the shower itself only needs its steamheads, a control and a properly sealed enclosure.

Chromatherapy Light and Water Filter

A chromatherapy LED light sits in the ceiling of the steam room and adds color to the session, and steam enters through two polished chrome square steamheads in solid steel with a built-in aroma reservoir in each head, and the box includes three 10 ml aroma oil bottles. An inline water filter is included too: it sits on the water supply and traps rust, sediment and scale-forming minerals before they reach the tank, which protects the heating elements and is something SteamSpa requires on every installation.

Teflon Elements, Steel Steamheads, Relief Valve and Tank Drain

The heating elements are Teflon coated, which SteamSpa says resists scale and corrosion and outlasts traditional brass elements. This version has no AutoDrain, so the tank is emptied through the manual drain valve; the RYTS1200CH-A model adds AutoDrain. The generator measures 21.06" W x 9.21" D x 15.16" H and holds 330 in³ of water, building steam at 5 psi, and a pressure relief valve opens automatically if the tank pressure ever passes 15 psi. The generator has a hanging groove for wall mounting and must be installed level, so its water level sensor reads correctly.

Power, Plumbing and Placement

Plan the power and plumbing before the walls close. At 12 kW the generator draws 50A at 240V single phase on 6 AWG copper wire, with its own breaker and a power disconnect within sight of the unit, and it can sit in a closet behind the shower, a vanity cabinet, the attic or the basement, as long as it stays indoors, dry, protected from freezing and less than 25' from the steam room. The 10.5 kW and 12 kW generators have two steam outlets, and each outlet gets its own steam line to its own steamhead.

With about 147 to 315 ft³ of steam room in reach and two polished chrome square steamheads in the shower, the SteamSpa RYTS1200CH gives you a complete 12 kW steam shower package from one brand, ready for a licensed electrician and plumber to install.

Features

12 kW for 147 to 315 ft³
SteamSpa's sizing chart matches 12 kW to a large steam shower or a two-person steam room of about 147 to 315 ft³, so the generator is matched to the room's volume; Wipe the steamheads with soapy water and a soft sponge, never with harsh chemicals or abrasive tools.
