The SteamSpa BKT1200BN-A is a 12 kW Black Series steam generator package with a wall-mounted touchscreen with WiFi app control, plus two brushed nickel steamheads. This SteamSpa 12 kW steam shower generator turns a sealed shower enclosure of about 147 to 315 ft³ into a home steam room, and it suits a smart-home bathroom where you want to start the steam from your phone, play music and set the lights from one screen.
Everything runs from the wall-mounted touchscreen: tap steam on, and the generator fills and heats its tank, then sends steam into the shower. SteamSpa's QuickStart technology brings steam in about 1 to 2 minutes. The room temperature is set with a slide on the screen, an ECO mode caps the room at 122°F, and user presets save each person's time and temperature. A weekly working mode lets you pick the days and start time so the room is warming before you arrive, a real-time clock shows in standby, and a four-digit safety lock keeps the panel locked until the code is entered. The same functions are available from the SteamSpa app over WiFi.
Sized for 147 to 315 ft³ Steam Rooms
SteamSpa's sizing chart lists 12 kW for cabins from 3' x 7' x 7' (147 ft³) and 4' x 6' x 7' (168 ft³) all the way up to 5' x 9' x 7' (315 ft³), the largest room on its single-generator chart. SteamSpa adds that it is safe, and even recommended, to choose one size step above what the chart shows. At 12 kW the generator suits a large steam shower or a two-person steam room, and because the steam is produced outside the enclosure, the shower itself only needs its steamheads, a control and a properly sealed enclosure. If the generator will sit more than 10' to 15' from the steam room, SteamSpa recommends going 1 to 2 kW higher to keep the steam flow up.
Bluetooth Audio and Chroma Lighting
Sound and light are part of the package: two waterproof stereo speakers play music, podcasts or audiobooks from your phone over Bluetooth, and two chromatherapy lights and a white LED ceiling light set the mood or simply light the room. Steam enters the shower through two brushed nickel steamheads.
Relief Valve and AutoDrain
The built-in AutoDrain opens once the timer has ended, or the system has been switched off, and stayed off for 2 hours, then empties the tank so minerals do not sit in standing water. The generator measures 21.06" W x 9.21" D x 15.16" H and holds 330 in³ of water, building steam at 5 psi, and the generator body carries its own safety valve, while the 3/4" pressure relief valve in the steam system opens automatically if the tank pressure ever passes 15 psi. The generator has a hanging groove for wall mounting and must be installed level, so its water level sensor reads correctly.
Power, Plumbing and Placement
Plan the power and plumbing before the walls close. At 12 kW the generator draws 50A at 240V single phase on 6 AWG copper wire, with its own breaker and a power disconnect within sight of the unit, and it can sit in a closet behind the shower, a vanity cabinet, the attic or the basement, as long as it stays indoors, dry, protected from freezing and less than 25' from the steam room. The 10.5 kW and 12 kW generators have two steam outlets, and each outlet gets its own steam line to its own steamhead.
With about 147 to 315 ft³ of steam room in reach and two brushed nickel steamheads in the shower, the SteamSpa BKT1200BN-A gives you a complete 12 kW steam shower package from one brand, ready for a licensed electrician and plumber to install.
Features
12 kW for 147 to 315 ft³
SteamSpa's sizing chart matches 12 kW to a large steam shower or a two-person steam room of about 147 to 315 ft³, so the generator is matched to the room's volume; SteamSpa says choosing one size up is safe and even recommended.
Touchscreen and WiFi App Control
The wall-mounted touchscreen and the SteamSpa app run steam, light, music and presets, with an ECO mode that caps the room at 122°F and a four-digit safety lock.
QuickStart Steam
SteamSpa's QuickStart technology brings steam in about 1 to 2 minutes, and the dual-tank design keeps it flowing continuously, so a session starts with little waiting.
Brushed Nickel Steamheads
Steam enters through two brushed nickel steamheads; each sits on its own steam line from its own generator outlet, about 12" above the floor, pointing down.
Built-In AutoDrain
The generator empties its tank automatically after each session, so minerals do not settle in standing water and the heating elements stay cleaner for longer.
Safety Valve and Pressure Relief
The generator body carries its own safety valve, and the 3/4" pressure relief valve the manual calls for opens automatically when tank pressure passes 15 psi.
Bluetooth Audio
Pair your phone over Bluetooth and play music, podcasts or audiobooks through two waterproof stereo speakers, which SteamSpa makes waterproof for humid rooms.
Chroma and LED Lighting
Two chromatherapy lights and a white LED ceiling light give you soft mood color during a session and clear white light when you need it.
Standard 50A, 240V Circuit
At 12 kW the generator runs on a dedicated 50A, 240V single-phase circuit with 6 AWG copper wire, its own breaker and a power disconnect within sight of the unit.
Six Memory Profiles and a Daily Timer
Save up to six custom time and temperature settings, one for each person in the house, and use the timer so the steam room is warming up before you walk in.

Installation & Care
Installation
Electrical: 12 kW at 240V single phase draws 50A; run 6 AWG insulated copper wire rated 194°F and 300V on its own breaker, with a power disconnect within sight of the generator and a proper ground. Plumbing: a 1/2" hot or cold supply at 15 to 20 psi through a pressure reducing valve, the inline filter and a quick connect and release fitting, in copper or brass only (no PEX or PVC), with inlet water no hotter than 160°F. Run 3/4" copper or brass steam pipe with curved elbows, sloped so condensation drains back, with no valves and no dips, insulated where it can be touched, and keep it off any wall material not rated to 240°F. Mount the steamheads about 12" above the floor, outlet down and away from any bench, keep the temperature sensor or control off the steamhead wall, seal every pipe and fitting with 100% silicone caulk, and add an exhaust fan outside the steam room. Leave 12" of clearance on both sides and the top of the generator. SteamSpa requires a licensed electrician and a licensed plumber, and the installation manual is in Resources.
Care
Let the AutoDrain finish before you switch off the breaker, so the tank is empty. Replace the inline filter cartridge at least every 6 months, clean the water supply pipes once a year, and have the generator, steamhead, pipes and fittings checked for leaks every year. About every six months, a technician can remove the cover and clean scale off the water level sensor prong. Wipe the steamheads with soapy water and a soft sponge, never with harsh chemicals or abrasive tools, and keep the touchscreen glass free of hard objects; wipe off mist for a clean touch. Children under 16 should not use the steam room, and because SteamSpa generators are not boilers, check with your local inspector before any commercial use.
