Unger The Pill Glass Cleaner (PL100, PL500 and PLBTL) is a pre-measured glass cleaning tablet for professional window cleaners: drop one pill into 2.5 gallons of water and you have a full bucket of window cleaning solution. Unger The Pill glass cleaner tablets come in a pack of 100 pills (PL100), a pack of 500 pills (PL500) and a 100 count bottle twelve pack (PLBTL), so a solo cleaner and a crew with several buckets can both buy at the right scale.

One Pill, One Bucket

The appeal of a tablet is consistency. Each pill is individually packaged and pre-measured, so every bucket is mixed at the same strength without measuring cups, guesswork or overpouring. That precise dosing prevents waste, and a pack of pills stores in a small space in the van or the kit bag.

Mixed with water, the solution removes dirt, grease and residue from glass and leaves it streak-free when you squeegee it off. It also improves the glide of your cleaning tools across the glass, which makes washing and squeegeeing smoother on long runs of windows.

What Is in the Tablet

Unger's ingredient disclosure lists sodium bicarbonate (70 to 82% by weight), which provides mild alkalinity to promote detergency, and citric acid (15 to 25%), the effervescent agent that dissolves the tablet. Sodium lauryl sulfoacetate (1.5 to 2.0%) is the surfactant that reduces surface tension so water penetrates oily deposits and lifts soil from the glass. Polyethylene glycol (1.0 to 2.0%) is added as a lubricant to prevent over drying and to reduce friction during squeegee operations.

A small amount of FD&C Blue No. 1 food grade dye (0.25%) acts as an indicator, so the color of the water shows you the pill has dissolved and the solution is at the right concentration. The formula is biodegradable.

Installation & Care

Installation
Fill a bucket with 2.5 gallons of water, open one pill and drop it in. Let the tablet dissolve until the water turns blue, which shows the solution has reached the right concentration, then wet your washer and clean the glass before squeegeeing.

Care
Store the pills in their packaging in a dry place and keep the pack or bottle closed between uses so moisture does not start the effervescence. Mix a fresh bucket for each job and rinse the bucket and washer with clean water when you finish.
