The KPlunge CP-CHILL08HP Gale is a 3/4 HP cold plunge chiller and heater in a black cabinet that turns a tub of tap water into a cold plunge at 37°F or a warm soak at 104°F. It connects to KPlunge tubs and most cold plunges or hot tubs with a standard inlet and outlet, and suits a 1-person or 2-person plunge where the water can come down overnight.
Cooling Power and Speed
SaunaSpa rates the 3/4 HP unit at 1,790 W of cooling capacity from a 725 W input on 120V AC, 60Hz, and at 3.9 hours or more to bring 53 gallons from 73°F to 41°F in an 82°F room. Compared with the 1 HP CP-CHILL1HP, that is the trade-off between cooling speed, footprint and weight (35 kg (77 lb)).
Simple Controls and Clean Water
Control is simple: a TFT touch panel on top sets the temperature, timer, screen lock and ozone interval, and the Smart Life app does the same over 2.4 GHz WiFi, with auto restart after a power cut. An ozone generator disinfects on an interval you set up to 5 minutes, and a replaceable filter cartridge on top plus a built-in mesh filter catch debris before it reaches the pump.
The ETL-listed unit uses R32 refrigerant and carries anti-freeze, overload and leak protection. It rolls on wheels with a carry handle and ships with valves, quick conversion connectors and a 98" water pipe for a tool-light setup.
Connecting It to Your Tub
Setup follows the quick-start guide: place the chiller on a stable surface at the same level as the tub, fit the valves to the tub inlet and outlet, and connect the 98" water pipe so the tub outlet feeds the chiller inlet and the chiller outlet returns to the tub. Fill the tub so the water sits above the chiller inlet but below the tub inlet, fill the filter housing on top with water to push out air, then switch on and check that the panel reads more than 15 L/min of flow.
Give it a sheltered, ventilated spot out of direct sun, rain and snow, with about 39" of clear space around the vents and never in a closet or cabinet. After delivery, let it stand upright for 24 hours before the first start, plug it into a properly rated 120V outlet, and switch it off before each session, as the chiller guide directs.
The Gale is the chiller KPlunge bundles with its cedar cold plunge tub and the Arctic Fox and Kodiak inflatable tubs, and Gale replacement filters fit both the 3/4 HP and 1 HP units. For anyone with a tub and no temperature control, the KPlunge CP-CHILL08HP turns it into a cold plunge and a warm soak on 120V power.
3/4 HP Cooling and Heating
One unit cools to 37°F for a plunge and heats to 104°F for a warm soak, with 1,790 W of cooling capacity from a 725 W input.
Runs on 120V Power
The chiller plugs into a properly rated 120V, 60Hz outlet and draws a 725 W input at full load.
Fits Most Standard Tubs
It connects to KPlunge tubs and most cold plunges or hot tubs with a standard inlet and outlet, using the supplied valves and 3/4" or 1/2" quick conversion connectors.
Touch Panel and Smart Life App
Set the temperature, schedule and ozone interval from the touch panel or the Smart Life app on 2.4 GHz WiFi, and the unit restarts itself after a power cut.
Ozone and Two-Stage Filtration
Built-in ozone disinfection plus a replaceable filter cartridge and a built-in mesh filter keep the water clear and odor free between water changes.
Built-In Protection
Anti-freeze, overload and leak protection guard the compressor and pump, and the unit is ETL listed for safety in home use.
Wheels and Carry Handle
At 35 kg (77 lb), the unit rolls on wheels and has a carry handle, so it can sit beside the tub and move for storage.
Sold separately: Cold plunge tub, Replacement filter cartridges (Gale chiller replacement filter)
Installation
Set the Gale chiller upright on a stable, level surface at the same level as the tub, sheltered from direct sun, rain and snow, with about 39" of clear space around its vents; never in a closet or cabinet. After delivery let it stand upright for 24 hours before first use. Plug it into a properly rated 120V outlet, connect the tub outlet to the chiller inlet and the chiller outlet back to the tub inlet, fill the filter housing on top with water to purge air, and check that the panel shows more than 15 L/min of flow. Switch it off before you get in. Before starting, make sure the tub holds enough water: the level must be above the chiller inlet and below the tub inlet.
Care
Chiller: never add chlorine tablets or other corrosive disinfectants to the water and never clean the unit with strong bleach detergents; the ozone system disinfects automatically. Rinse the built-in mesh filter every 4 weeks, clean the dust net every 3 months, replace the filter cartridge when it is dirty or the flow warning appears, and drain the chiller through its drain valve before temperatures fall below 34°F or a long idle period.
