The ANZZI Alexander Alcove Shower Pan comes in 6 versions: 48" x 32" or 60" x 30" size and Center, Left or Right drain side. Pick your options above to open the exact model, with its own price and details. The details below are for the 48" x 32", Center version.
The ANZZI SB-AZ103C is the 48" x 32" Alexander Series ANR alcove shower base with a center drain. It gives a three-wall alcove a solid, low-threshold floor that does not flex underfoot, molded from ANZZI's ANR stone composite rather than thin acrylic.
Alexander bases are compression molded from ANR, ANZZI's blend of resin, fiberglass and stone filler, which ANZZI rates stronger and lighter than both artificial stone and acrylic. ANZZI builds them with twice the material thickness, so no extra layers of reinforcement are needed, and the solid surface construction is made not to crack, discolor or delaminate over years of use.
Underfoot, the difference is rigidity. ANZZI rates the ANR at 3X compressive strength, so it holds high levels of weight without sagging, and its tensile strength means it won't flex beneath your feet the way a thin pan can. A solid surface grid on the underside gives strong support and structural integrity, and the moisture-resistant construction protects against odor, mold and mildew.
The low threshold is designed to make stepping in and out effortless, a real help for children, older family members and anyone with stiff knees, and a stainless steel drain cover resists corrosion so it keeps looking good for a long lifetime of use.
Overall the base measures 48" W x 32" D x 4" H. The center drain sits mid-floor, the usual position when you are replacing an existing center-drain pan. It is an alcove base: measure the framed opening stud to stud on all three walls before ordering, so the base sits snugly against the walls.
Alexander is offered here in 5 sizes (36" x 36", 48" x 32", 60" x 30", 60" x 32" and 60" x 36") and center, left and right drain positions, so you can match the base to your space and your fixtures; the SB-AZ103C is the 48" x 32" with the center drain.
Plan the rest of the shower around the base: you will need a drain assembly, sold separately, mortar and sealant for the install, and a sliding or hinged glass door, or an ANZZI wall surround to finish the space. Day to day the floor needs little more than a rinse and a wipe with a soft cloth after showering, and a wash with mild soap now and then keeps the surface bright; skip abrasive pads and scrapers, which dull the finish.
Alexander suits a tub-to-shower conversion, a new walk-in alcove or a dated pan replacement in a family bathroom, and anyone who wants a stone-solid floor with a low step. ANZZI highly recommends professional installation.
Features
Compression-Molded ANR
A blend of resin, fiberglass and stone filler, ANR is rated by ANZZI stronger and lighter than both artificial stone and acrylic.

3X Compressive Strength
The ANR holds high levels of weight without sagging, and a solid surface grid underneath adds strong support.
Won't Flex Underfoot
ANR's tensile strength keeps the floor sturdy so it won't flex beneath your feet, a solid feel that thin pans lack.

A low threshold makes stepping in and out effortless, helpful for children, older bathers and anyone with limited mobility.
Stainless Steel Drain Cover
The stainless steel drain cover resists corrosion, so it keeps looking good through a long lifetime of use.
Center Drain
The center drain sits mid-floor, the common position when replacing an existing center-drain shower pan.
48" x 32" Footprint
Overall the base measures 48" W x 32" D x 4" H, so measure the framed alcove before ordering and allow for the wall finish over the flange.

Installation & Care
Installation
Frame the alcove so the walls and subfloor are solid, plumb and square, and confirm the center drain position before you begin. The shower drain is not included: ANZZI's manual calls for a 2" PVC waste pipe, a drain hole in the subfloor about 6" in diameter, and a sealant or gasket at the drain, never plumber's putty. Set the base on a bed of thick mortar, level it in two directions with the apron touching the floor along its length, and wait 24 hours before using the shower. Install the base before the door or wall panels; ANZZI highly recommends professional installation. ANZZI's specification sheet is in Resources.
Care
ANZZI's base manual says to wipe the base after each use with a soft cloth and to clean it with non-abrasive sprays or cream-based cleaners; never use abrasive cleansers, metal brushes or scrapers, which can scratch or dull the surface. ANZZI's care guide says to clean with regular soap and hot water on a non-abrasive cloth or sponge, to test any stronger cleaner on an inconspicuous area first, to rinse every surface completely right after cleaning, and never to let a cleaner soak.
