The 8821-MC-SL is a Bellaterra Home 17.7" silver rectangular metal frame medicine cabinet, 17.7" wide, 28.5" high and 5.5" deep, built for surface mounting. It combines the mirror you need above a vanity with closed storage behind the glass, which keeps toothpaste, medicine and razors off the counter.
Storage Behind the Mirror
Inside, three adjustable glass shelves give a flexible storage configuration for bottles, jars and razors. The mirrored door opens to the storage behind it.
A thin metal frame with a powder coated silver finish surrounds the door, and Bellaterra recesses the mirror into that frame with a flat, non-beveled edge and hand polished edges. The mirror glass resists rusting in bathroom humidity, which suits a room that sees steam from the shower every day.
Recessed or Surface Mount
As a surface mount cabinet, it hangs on the face of the wall, so no wall cavity has to be opened; Bellaterra pre-assembles it for an easy surface mount installation.
A recessed cabinet needs a wall cavity between studs that is deep and wide enough for the body, which is easiest during a remodel; a surface mount cabinet suits a finished wall, a tiled wall or a wall with pipes or wiring behind it. This cabinet is built for surface mounting, so plan the wall work around that before installation day.
Sizing and Placement
Most people center a medicine cabinet over the sink and hang it so the middle of the mirror is near eye level for the people who use it most. At 17.7" wide, this cabinet suits a single sink vanity of about that width or wider, and a pair can flank a wider mirror or sit over a double vanity.
Its portrait proportions, taller than wide, suit a single sink vanity and a narrow stretch of wall, and they draw the eye upward in a small bathroom. Silver is a cool, understated metallic that matches chrome and nickel faucets, towel bars and lighting.
What fits inside matters as much as the mirror. Measure the tallest items you keep, such as a mouthwash bottle or an electric toothbrush, against the depth and shelf spacing, and keep heavier bottles on the lower shelves where they are easier to reach.
A mirror is often the largest single surface on a bathroom wall, so it sets the tone for the room. Tie it to one other element, such as the vanity, the faucet or the light fixture, and the room reads as planned rather than assembled piece by piece.
For a bathroom short on storage, the Bellaterra Home 8821-MC-SL puts 17.7" of mirror and shelves behind one door, so the counter stays clear and daily items stay within reach.

Installation & Care
Installation
This cabinet is built for surface mounting. For a recessed cabinet, open a wall cavity between studs sized to the body, check for pipes and wiring first and fix the cabinet to the framing; for a surface mount cabinet, fix it through the back into studs or wall anchors rated for 23 lb plus its contents. Use the mounting hardware included.
Care
Clean the mirror with a soft cloth and glass cleaner sprayed onto the cloth, not onto the glass. Wipe the shelves and the body with a damp cloth and dry them, wipe up spills from bottles promptly and avoid abrasive pads or harsh chemicals on the finish.
