Do I need a condensate pump for my mini-split or air handler?

Only if the drain cannot slope downhill all the way to its outlet. A gravity drain needs continuous fall; where the indoor unit sits below the outlet, or the line must rise to get outside, a pump lifts the water instead.

Which CoolGuard float switch fits my drain?

The FS1 goes inline on a drain line and tolerates a slope of up to 45 degrees. The FS2 mounts horizontally at the junction of the primary pan and its auxiliary outlet, and ships with an adapter, bushing and cap. The FS3 clamps to the edge of a primary or auxiliary drain pan on steel brackets and still works when mounted off-center. The CTK-2 trap kit pairs a float switch with a clear, cleanable trap.

How is a float switch wired?

Into the 24VAC thermostat control circuit; the switches are rated 1.25 amps for Class 2 circuits. CoolGuard's trap kit diagram, for example, interrupts the cooling call so the condenser stops while the indoor fan can keep running. Turn off power at the panel before wiring, and follow the diagram supplied with your switch.

Which drain line fits a ductless air handler?

The clear vinyl line fits the 3/8" drain connection on a ductless head, carries water from 50°F to 140°F, and lets you see a clog at a glance. The corrugated polyethylene line in oyster white flexes and stretches to follow an awkward route and blends in against a light wall.

Can I install CoolGuard parts myself?

They are homeowner-installable for anyone comfortable with PVC drain fittings and low-voltage thermostat wiring. Turn off power first and test the switch by lifting the float once it is wired. If the air handler's control board is unfamiliar, have an HVAC technician make the switch connection.
