Battery bay under the tank

Battery bay under the tank

The E17 recovery tank lifts on its hinge to open the battery compartment, where two 12 V batteries are wired in series for 24 V. The charger is built into the machine, so charging needs nothing more than a wall outlet and the cord it carries.

Drain the recovery tank before tipping it back. With wet lead-acid batteries, check the water level before each shift; the AGM option is sealed and needs no watering.

The key switch, battery level lights and the brush and vacuum switches all sit on the rear panel of the E17, and traction drive models add the direction switch and speed dial beside them. The recovery drain hose hangs within reach at the back.

New operators pick the machine up quickly, and a supervisor can read the battery lights at a glance before handing it over for the next shift.

Small footprint, full-size tanks

Small footprint, full-size tanks

The E17 body is 18.8" wide and 44.4" long, yet it carries a 12 gal solution tank and a 13 gal recovery tank above its 17" disc deck. The deck sits low at the front to reach under shelving and furniture edges, and the rear squeegee needs no daily adjustment.

It parks in a small closet and works its way through classrooms, restrooms and retail aisles, while the tank size keeps refill trips down on a mid-size floor.

Got Questions?

Find answers below or contact our support team.

What is the difference between brush drive and traction drive?

Both use the same 17" disc deck, tanks and vacuum. Brush drive models are guided by the operator, and Minuteman rates them at 12,750ft² per hour at 1.7 mph. Traction drive adds a 1/5 HP drive motor with a speed dial and is rated at 23,188ft² per hour at 3.1 mph. It also weighs more: 365 lbs with batteries against 306 lbs.

Should I choose wet or AGM batteries?

Both options are two 12 V batteries wired for 24 V and charged on board. Wet lead-acid batteries need their water level checked and topped up with distilled water. AGM batteries are sealed and need no watering, which suits sites where nobody is assigned to battery care.

How do I charge the E17?

Plug the on-board charger's cord into a wall outlet. The machine will not run while the charger is plugged in, so it cannot be driven off with the cord attached. Charge fully before the first shift and after each use.

Can it clean under shelves and furniture?

The disc deck sits low at the front, so it reaches under overhangs, shelving and furniture edges, and the machine body is 18.8" wide for tight spaces. Anything lower than the deck still needs a mop.

Can the E17 be used on ramps?

Minuteman rates it for grades of 2% or less. It is a level-floor machine, not one for parking ramps or steep loading areas.

How loud is it?

Minuteman lists a sound level of 69 dBA for the E17.
