Two bolts to the service bay

Two bolts to the service bay

Two screws open the TRS17 housing, giving access to the base where the pump, vacuum motor and plumbing sit. Minuteman notes the pump seals and valves may need replacing around the 1,000 hour mark if pressure drops.

Daily care is short: flush the chemical lines with clean water and clean the vacuum filter. Check fittings, cords and hoses quarterly, and send repairs to an authorized Minuteman service station.

Pressure spray, then vacuum recovery

Pressure spray, then vacuum recovery

The pressure gun on its hose puts solution onto walls, partitions and fixtures at up to 600 psi, into tile pores and grout lines. The swivel wand with its squeegee/brush head then pulls the dirty water off the floor into the 15 gal recovery tank, with 120" of water lift behind it.

Solution and soil leave the room in the recovery tank, so there is no mop water to carry. Keep defoamer in use and the solution water below 130°F, as the manual directs.

Chemical feed with a soap/rinse valve

Chemical feed with a soap/rinse valve

A holder on the back of the TRS17 takes up to a 1 gal chemical bottle, and a feed line with a metering tip draws chemical into the spray when the gun is on its low pressure setting. Turn the dispensing valve to SOAP to apply, then to RINSE to wash surfaces down with clean water from the 17 gal solution tank.

Dilution stays consistent from one restroom to the next, and chemical never has to go into the solution tank, which the manual rules out. Fit the metering tip that matches the dilution your chemical calls for.

What comes with the Total Restroom System?

The machine comes with a swivel wand with squeegee/brush head, a pressure spray gun, vacuum and solution hoses, a fixture drying hose, a Gulper tool for liquid recovery and a 50' power cord. Cleaning chemicals are sold separately.

What chemicals can I use in it?

Use chemicals made for extractor-type machines at their correct mix ratios, fed through the chemical feed system or a pre-spray rather than added to the solution tank. Minuteman says not to use dyes, bleaches or ammonia, and to use defoamer at all times to protect the vacuum motor.

Can it be used for dry vacuuming?

No. The TRS17 sprays and recovers liquids on hard surfaces, and the manual says not to use it for dry vacuuming.

How hot can the water be?

No hotter than 130°F in the solution tank. Keep the machine away from freezing temperatures and store it indoors in a heated space.

What power does it need?

A grounded 15 A, 120 V, 60 Hz outlet; the machine draws 14.5 A. If you need an extension cord, use a 12 gauge three-wire cord no longer than 25'. The built-in GFCI cuts power if it senses a ground leak.

How much maintenance does it need?

Flush the chemical lines with clean water and clean the vacuum filter daily, check the vacuum pathways weekly, and check the pump, fittings, cords, hoses and solution filter quarterly. Pump seals and valves may need replacing around 1,000 hours if pressure drops.
