A side-discharge condenser built for weather

A side-discharge condenser built for weather

The condenser blows sideways rather than up, which keeps the cabinet low beside the house: 26.5" tall on the 2-ton size. It is painted galvanized steel with MRCOOL's Gold Fin coil coating, and MRCOOL rates it at 60 to 65 dBA by size.

Leave room at the fan face and the service side when you plan the pad, and keep it away from bedroom windows on the larger sizes.

Full heat output in hard cold

Full heat output in hard cold

The inverter system keeps running in outdoor air down to -22°F, and MRCOOL rates it for up to 100% of its heating output at -5°F. At 5°F the 3-ton pair still delivers 39,000 BTU/h.

In the coldest regions an optional electric heat kit in the air handler switches on below 5°F as backup. Size the system from a proper heat-loss calculation.

An air handler for any closet

An air handler for any closet

The matching VersaPro air handler installs upflow, downflow, horizontal left or horizontal right, so it adapts to a closet, basement or attic duct run. A slide-out blower and a filter rack with a removable magnetic cover keep service simple.

It is built for ducted use only and is not a free-blow unit, so plan on existing or new ductwork.

Got Questions?

Find answers below or contact our support team.

Can I install the Central Ducted Hyper Heat myself?

No. It is a split system with field-connected refrigerant lines, so a licensed HVAC contractor with EPA refrigerant certification has to set both units, connect and leak-check the lines, wire them and start the system. That holds even with MRCOOL's pre-charged No-Vac Quick Connect line sets.

Is a line set included?

No. Lines are 3/8" liquid and 3/4" suction on every size, either MRCOOL's optional No-Vac Quick Connect sets charged with R-454B or contractor-supplied copper; braze-to-flare adapters and flare nuts for flare connections are included. Maximum length is 164' (2 and 2.5-ton) or 246' (3 to 5-ton), with 0.7 oz of refrigerant added per foot beyond 24.6'.

Which air handler goes with the condenser?

MRCOOL rates each CENTRAL condenser with the VersaPro MVP multi-position air handler of the same capacity, for example CENTRAL-24-HP-C-230B00-O with MVP-24-HP-MUAH-230A00-O. The complete system ships with that air handler and a MRCOOL Smart Thermostat.

Do I need backup heat?

Often not, since the system runs down to -22°F outdoors. For very cold regions or high altitude, MRCOOL offers an optional electric heat kit that mounts in the air handler and activates automatically below 5°F. It is sold separately and wired by a licensed contractor.

Is an air filter included?

No. The air handler has a filter rack with a removable magnetic cover, but MRCOOL's manual states the filter is bought separately. Sizes depend on the air handler capacity.

Why is the 5-ton model rated at 54,000 BTU?

The 60,000 BTU size is sold as 5 tons, but MRCOOL rates its cooling at 54,000 BTU/h and heating at 56,000 BTU/h. The 2-ton size is likewise rated at 23,000 BTU/h cooling. Size from a load calculation rather than the nominal tonnage.
