How much floor area does one CoolBlade cover?

MRCOOL rates the 16' model at 1,640 ft² (500 m²) and the 24' model at 5,577 ft² (1,700 m²). Racking, mezzanines and partitions break up the airflow, so a crowded floor plan may need more fans than the open-floor figure suggests.

What electrical supply does it need?

Both sizes run on 220-240V single phase. MRCOOL lists a 15 A breaker and 0.75 kW for the 16' model, and a 20 A breaker and 1.5 kW for the 24' model. It is not a plug-in fan, so a licensed electrician has to run the circuit to the control box.

What can a CoolBlade be mounted to?

MRCOOL's bracket attaches to an I-beam, square steel or concrete structure. The fan weighs 136.7 lbs (16') or 249.1 lbs (24'), so the installer has to confirm the structure can carry it and fit the anti-falling expansion sleeve and steel wire safety rope.

Does an HVLS fan lower the air temperature?

No. It moves a large volume of air slowly, producing a floor-level breeze of 0.25 to 3.5 m/s that feels cooler on the skin and keeps air from stagnating. It does not remove heat or humidity the way an air conditioner does, though better circulation helps reduce condensation.

How loud is it?

MRCOOL rates both sizes at 38 dB(A). The slow rotation, 80 rpm on the 16' and 60 rpm on the 24', is a large part of why it stays that quiet.

Who should install a CoolBlade?

A qualified contractor with a licensed electrician. The fan is hung from structural steel or concrete at ceiling height and wired to a 220-240V circuit, which calls for lifting equipment, structural checks and code-compliant electrical work.
