An 11.5' pre-charged line set included

Every DIY Select condenser ships with an 11.5' Quick Connect line set that is charged with R-454B at the factory and sealed at both ends. You mount the air handler, pass the lines through the wall, snug the screw-on fittings with two wrenches and open the service valves with the supplied Allen wrench.

No vacuum pump, gauges or brazing are involved. Plan the route first, then leak-check each joint after it is tightened.

On its silent fan setting the 12,000 BTU air handler is rated at 17.5 dBA, and the other three sizes sit between 18 and 21.5 dBA. The inverter compressor adjusts its output to hold the set temperature rather than cycling fully on and off.

The 9,000 and 12,000 BTU sizes run on 115V and suit bedrooms, offices and studios. The 18,000 and 24,000 BTU sizes need a 208/230V circuit.

Ratings run from 17.5 SEER2 on the 9,000 and 12,000 BTU systems to 16.5 SEER2 on the 24,000 BTU system, with heating up to 9.0 HSPF2 (Region IV). The outdoor coil carries MRCOOL's Gold Fin coating for humid and coastal air.

Coverage runs from up to 400ft² to up to 1,050ft². MRCOOL bases those areas on ideal conditions, so size up for tall ceilings, large windows or weak insulation.

Can I install the MRCOOL DIY Select myself?

Yes, it is built for homeowner installation. The pre-charged Quick Connect line set removes the vacuum and refrigerant steps, and the manual walks through mounting, drilling the wall hole, connecting the lines and wiring. The electrical work still has to meet local code, some areas require a permit or an electrician for the circuit, and the power cable to the outdoor unit is purchased separately.

Does the DIY Select need a 230V circuit?

Only the larger sizes. The 9,000 and 12,000 BTU models run on 115V, and the 18,000 and 24,000 BTU models need 208/230V. Every size lists a 20A maximum fuse for the outdoor unit.

Is the included 11.5' line set long enough, and can I extend it?

It suits installs where the condenser sits just outside the wall behind the air handler. For a longer route MRCOOL sells pre-charged Quick Connect line sets in 16', 25', 35' and 50' lengths, plus coupler kits that join two sets. Stay within the maximum run the manual lists for your size, and leak-check every joint after tightening it to the torque in the manual.

Is the black air handler any different from the white one?

Only in color. A black and a white DIY Select air handler of the same capacity share the same ratings, dimensions and condenser.

Can I control the DIY Select from my phone?

Yes. The system works with the MRCOOL Comfort app for temperature, modes, schedules and monitoring, and it answers voice commands through Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The included remote also has a Follow Me function that reads the temperature where you are sitting.

Can one DIY Select condenser serve more than one room?

No. DIY Select is single-zone: one condenser runs one wall air handler. To condition several rooms from one outdoor unit, look at the DIY 5th Gen multi-zone condensers.
