Which line set size does my mini-split need?

Match the liquid and suction sizes on the head and condenser spec. In the Olympus and Advantage ranges, 9K and 12K units use 1/4" x 3/8", 18K units use 1/4" x 1/2", and 24K units use 3/8" x 5/8". The Advantage 36K condenser also lists 3/8" x 5/8".

Is this the same as the DIY Quick Connect line set?

No. These are standard flared copper lines with no refrigerant inside. After connection, a licensed technician must pressure test and evacuate the lines with a vacuum pump before opening the condenser valves. MRCOOL DIY systems use pre-charged Quick Connect sets instead.

Does the line set include communication wire?

MRCOOL lists the 16' and 25' sets with wire. MRCOOL's listing for the 50' kits does not say wire is included, so plan to supply the interconnect cable on a 50' run unless your installer confirms otherwise.

Do longer runs need extra refrigerant?

Often. MRCOOL rates its ductless condensers on a 25' line, so a longer run may need extra charge. The condenser installation manual gives the amount for each foot over the standard length, and the installer adds it.

Which length should I choose?

Measure the route from the head to the condenser, including bends and the drop down the wall, and choose the next length up. Keep within the maximum line length on your condenser's spec sheet.
