One tower covers both seasons: eight fan speeds for cooling airflow, and an electric heater rated up to 1,200W with three heat levels for cold mornings. In fan mode it draws about 30W, so the high draw only applies while heat is on.
On heat, plug it straight into a wall outlet that is not shared with other high-power appliances, and keep 3' clear in front of it.
Air leaves through a slim oval ring, with the motor and moving parts enclosed in the base, so there are no blades or front grille to gather dust. Cleaning means unplugging it and wiping the body with a damp cloth and mild detergent, then a dry one.
Keep the air intake in the base clear of lint and pet hair, since a blocked intake is the usual cause of weak airflow.
The included remote switches between cool and heat, steps through 8 fan speeds or 3 heat levels, and adds sleep, a strong-wind boost and oscillation. Its timer shuts the tower off after 1 to 9 hours.
Aim the top of the remote at the LED display on the base for a reliable signal. The display also works alone: a press cycles levels and a long press switches modes or turns it off.

No. MRCOOL's manual rules out extension cables and multi-outlet strips, and asks that it not share an outlet with other high-power appliances. On heat it draws up to 1,200W, so plug it directly into a wall outlet.
MRCOOL rates it at 20 to 1,200W on 110V. Fan-only operation is rated about 30W, and the heater is what pushes the draw up to 1,200W, so running costs depend mostly on how much you use the heat setting.
MRCOOL measures 51.9 dB(A) at the lowest of the eight fan speeds, rising to 76.8 dB(A) at the highest. On heat it runs from 67.2 to 72.6 dB(A) across the three levels. A sleep button drops it straight to the lowest airflow.
The bladeless ring has no exposed spinning blades, but the heater gets hot, so keep it 3' from bedding, curtains and furniture and on a stable floor. MRCOOL's manual says children should be supervised and that it should not run unattended in a closed room with an infant.
No. It is for dry indoor rooms only. MRCOOL's manual excludes bathrooms, laundry areas and anywhere it could get wet, and asks for 5' of distance from open flames and direct sunlight.
