Up to six rooms on one condenser

Up to six rooms on one condenser

One Olympus Multi-Zone condenser runs up to three, four, five or six indoor heads by size, from the 18,000 to the 48,000 BTU model, with efficiency up to 25.1 SEER2. Each head has its own setting, so an unused guest room can idle while the living room runs.

All heads share one mode: the system heats or cools at a time, never both. Size the condenser for the whole load and each head for its own room.

Pick a head style for each room

Every zone can take a wall-mount air handler, a four-way ceiling cassette with 360° airflow, or a concealed ducted unit that feeds ductwork, in 9,000 to 24,000 BTU sizes. The cassette and ducted units carry a built-in condensate pump.

Mixing styles is allowed as long as the combination appears in MRCOOL's match-up table for your condenser.

Quiet enough for bedrooms

Quiet enough for bedrooms

The Olympus wall head drops to 19.5 dBA on its silent setting, 16 dBA on the 24,000 BTU size, with fan speed adjustable from 1% to 100%. The ducted unit starts at 23 dBA and the cassette at 23.5 dBA, so every head style stays quiet at low speed.

For a nursery or home office, a wall head or ducted unit sized to the room keeps fan noise lowest.

Got Questions?

Find answers below or contact our support team.

Can I install an Olympus multi-zone system myself?

No. Every Olympus condenser and head uses flared refrigerant lines that a licensed HVAC technician must connect, leak-test, evacuate and charge, then wire and commission. MRCOOL's DIY multi-zone series is the homeowner-installed alternative.

Do I have to connect every zone the condenser supports?

No. MRCOOL's match-up tables start at two indoor units on every condenser, so a five-zone condenser can run two, three or four heads. Use only the combinations in the table for your model: the 18,000 BTU condenser takes 9,000 and 12,000 BTU heads only, and 24,000 BTU heads need the 27,000 BTU condenser or larger.

Can one room heat while another cools?

No. All heads on one Olympus multi-zone condenser run in the same mode, heating or cooling. Rooms that need opposite modes at the same time need separate systems.

Are line sets included?

Not with the condenser or the individual heads; MRCOOL's manuals say the pipes are bought separately. Each head uses 1/4" x 3/8" (9,000 and 12,000 BTU), 1/4" x 1/2" (18,000 BTU) or 3/8" x 5/8" (24,000 BTU) lines.

How far can each head be from the condenser?

The 18,000 BTU condenser allows 98.4' to any one head and 196.8' in total; the 27,000 to 48,000 BTU condensers allow 114.8' per head and 262.4' in total. Height difference is limited to 49.2' between the condenser and a head and 33' between heads.

Will these heads work with a single-zone Olympus condenser?

Yes. Each Olympus wall-mount, cassette and ducted air handler is also listed with the Olympus E Star single-zone condenser of the same capacity, so one head can run on its own outdoor unit.
