Can I install a TruInverter system myself?

No. It is a split system with field-connected refrigerant lines, so a licensed HVAC contractor with EPA refrigerant certification has to set the units, connect and charge the lines, wire the controls and start it up. The factory charge covers only 25' of line, and longer runs need refrigerant weighed in.

How cold can it get outside and still heat my house?

MRCOOL rates the TruInverter to heat with the outdoor air anywhere between -5°F and 80°F, and to cool between 5°F and 125°F. Output falls as it gets colder: the 2-ton pair is rated at 24,000 BTU/h at 47°F but 18,500 BTU/h at 17°F, so in cold climates plan on an electric heat kit for backup.

Will it work with my existing thermostat?

In most homes, yes. MRCOOL's Free Match design uses standard 24V thermostat wiring, needs no special communication cable between the indoor and outdoor units, and pairs with most third-party 24V thermostats.

Is a line set included?

No, line sets are sold separately. The condenser accepts standard copper or MRCOOL's optional No Vac Quick Connect lines with matching coupler kits. Runs can reach 100' on the 2-ton and 3-ton and 165' on the 4-ton and 5-ton, with up to 50' of height difference between the units.

Which air handler goes with each TruInverter condenser?

MRCOOL rates each condenser with the TruInverter multi-position air handler of the same tonnage: MCAESHV8T2421BA with MCAEAMPVT24D21BA, MCAESHV9T3621BA with MCAEAMPVT36D21BA, MCAESHV8T4821BA with MCAEAMPVT48F21BA and MCAESHV7T6021BA with MCAEAMPVT60F21BA. The published SEER2 and HSPF2 figures and the AHRI certificates cover those pairings only.

Can I pair a TruInverter condenser with another brand's air handler?

MRCOOL designs Free Match to work with third-party indoor and outdoor units, but the published SEER2 and HSPF2 ratings and the AHRI certificates apply only to the matched TruInverter pairs. Have your contractor confirm any mixed match against the installation manual before buying.
