The whole system on one pad

The whole system on one pad

Compressor, coils, blower and controls sit in one outdoor cabinet that connects to the supply and return ducts, so there is no indoor air handler, line set or furnace to place. The 4-ton and 5-ton cabinets measure 44" x 44", the 3-ton 44" x 35.44", and all stand 49.25" tall.

Plan for a level pad or a roof curb, the service clearances in MRCOOL's manual, and a condensate drain line.

Got Questions?

Find answers below or contact our support team.

How cold can it get before it stops heating?

MRCOOL rates the heating range down to -22°F outdoors. Capacity drops as it gets colder, so in hard-winter areas many installers add an MDPHK electric heat kit for backup during the coldest hours.

Which heat kit fits my unit?

MRCOOL's manual lists three kits for the Universal packaged unit: MDPHK06D, MDPHK09D and MDPHK12D. Choose by the home's heat loss and the circuit capacity available, since a bigger kit draws more current. Only these MRCOOL kits are approved for the unit.

Can it be installed downflow or on a roof?

Yes. The cabinet ships for vertical duct connection through the base and converts to horizontal by moving the duct covers to the side openings. Rooftop installs sit on a roof curb, which MRCOOL does not supply.

What thermostat does it work with?

It runs from either a 24V thermostat or MRCOOL's wired controller, not both. When a 24V thermostat is used, the installer changes a DIP switch on the control board during setup.

What refrigerant does it use, and are there line sets to run?

It is factory charged with R-32. Because it is a packaged unit, the refrigerant circuit is complete inside the cabinet, so there are no line sets to run between indoor and outdoor sections. The contractor still checks the system at startup.
