The MRCOOL Universal Series MHK...U heat strip is a UL listed electric element assembly with a circuit breaker that slides into an earlier Universal Series MDUI air handler for backup heat. It comes in 5kW, 8kW, 10kW, 15kW and 20kW for a 208/230V single-phase supply.
Each size fits only the MDUI air handlers in MRCOOL's table. Today's Universal UAH18 air handlers take the UHK kits instead. Installation is by a licensed electrician or HVAC contractor. This is the Universal Series MDUI heat strip.
Features
Matched to MDUI Air Handlers
5kW and 8kW for the MDUI18024 and MDUI18036, 10kW for the MDUI18036, 15kW and 20kW for the MDUI18048 and MDUI18060.
Slide-In Fit
Prongs on the end of the strip line up with holes in the back wall of the air handler, and mounting screws hold it in place.
Breaker on a Bracket
The circuit breaker clips into the air handler on its own bracket and buckle during installation.
Plugs Into the Harness
A connector on the strip joins the air handler wiring harness, then power is wired to the diagram on the electrical box.
UL Listed
MRCOOL lists UL certification LZFE2.SA45524 for the MHK...U strips, in a 12" x 22" x 7" assembly.

Installation
Professional installation required. This equipment must be installed by a qualified, licensed electrician or contractor, following MRCOOL's installation manual and all local electrical and building codes and permit requirements. MRCOOL's limited warranty applies only to units installed that way, and it does not cover installation labor.
Fits Universal Series MDUI air handlers only: MHK05U and MHK08U on the MDUI18024 and MDUI18036; MHK10U on the MDUI18036; MHK15U and MHK20U on the MDUI18048 and MDUI18060. Supply is 208/230V, single phase, 60 Hz. MRCOOL lists a minimum circuit ampacity of 25A, 40A and 50A and a maximum breaker of 30A, 45A and 60A for the 5kW, 8kW and 10kW strips; the 15kW strip needs two circuits rated 60A and 30A maximum, and the 20kW strip 60A and 60A. MRCOOL's manual says all wiring must be done by a qualified electrician.

Shipping, Returns & Warranty
Ships to addresses in the United States only. Shipping cost is calculated at checkout.
Inspect the packaging and the product before you sign. Note any damage or shortage on the delivery receipt, then email photos to support@mycleansupplies.com within 48 hours of delivery so the freight claim can be filed. Damage reported after 48 hours can't be claimed.
MRCOOL handles returns through the store you bought from, so your return comes to us. Unopened, unused MRCOOL equipment can be returned within 21 days of delivery with a return authorization from us. You pay the return shipping, and a restocking fee of up to 20% may be deducted along with payment processing fees. Opened, installed or used equipment and special-order items can't be returned.
MRCOOL's MHK...U installation manual states no warranty terms, and no MRCOOL warranty document in the Resources names these strips, so confirm any coverage with MRCOOL before ordering.
Warranty claims. MRCOOL handles warranty claims directly through support.mrcool.com or (270) 366-0457. Some MRCOOL warranties cover the original purchaser only. Systems that aren't DIY need a valid installation invoice to open a claim.
About MRCOOL
MRCOOL designs heating, cooling and water-heating equipment from its home base in Hickory, Kentucky. The range runs from DIY ductless mini-splits, built around MRCOOL's patented pre-charged Quick Connect line sets, through contractor-installed mini-splits, central split systems, packaged units and gas furnaces, to HeatWise water heaters and CoolBlade HVLS fans for warehouses and shops.
MHK heat strips are electric backup heat for earlier MRCOOL ducted equipment: the H strips for Signature Series MAHM split air handlers, the P strips for Signature Series package units, and the U strips for Universal Series MDUI air handlers. MRCOOL's current air handlers and packaged units take different kits (MCAEHFD, UHK and MHK...PB), so these strips are for servicing or adding heat to MRCOOL equipment that is already installed.
