The Nantucket Sinks NS09i-16 is a 23" Sconset undermount kitchen sink with a single 21" x 15.75" bowl, 9" deep, a small rectangle sink Nantucket designed for compact kitchens. It fits a 24" cabinet base, so it works as the main sink in a compact kitchen, apartment or ADU, or as a prep sink in a larger one. The NS35CD colander drain and a BG09i bottom grid are included.
Nantucket calls it an ideal single bowl for smaller kitchen applications. The basin is deep enough to wash a skillet or fill a pot, and the 3.5" drain sits at the center of the floor, in line with a standard trap. It comes with a coordinating NS35CD colander drain as well as a BG09i bottom grid, which Nantucket notes extends the time between polishing the sink by keeping pots and utensils off the steel.
The sink is crafted from 16-gauge 304 stainless steel in a lustrous brushed satin finish. Rubber padding is applied for noise reduction, and the underside is sprayed with a special insulation to reduce condensation, so the cabinet stays quieter and drier. At 10 lbs it is light and easy for an installer to handle in a tight cabinet.
Fitting the NS09i-16 in Your Kitchen
Sizing is straightforward. The NS09i-16 measures 23" x 17.75" x 9" overall. As an undermount sink it is installed beneath a solid surface countertop such as granite or quartz, and the fabricator can finish the edge flush with the bowl or with the 1/4" overhang Nantucket recommends. There are no faucet holes in the sink, so the faucet is planned separately, either through the countertop or on the wall. Nantucket's installation guide calls for professional installation. The Undermount installation guide in Resources covers the cutout and mounting.
The Sconset Collection
The NS09i-16 belongs to the Sconset Collection. Nantucket offers matching accessories, and the optional pieces listed for the NS09i-16 are the NS35LCC flip-top crumb cup drain.
Caring for the Stainless Steel
Nantucket's care guide for its stainless sinks favors light, frequent cleaning over an occasional heavy scrub: wipe with a soft cloth and a mild cleaner in the direction of the grain, towel dry after use to keep the steel shiny and free of water spots, and lift mineral deposits with vinegar and water. For tougher stains it suggests a mild abrasive such as Bar Keepers Friend, and it asks you to avoid steel wool and bleach, to wipe up salt, vinegar, citrus and other acidic foods promptly, and not to leave steel or cast iron cookware, wet sponges or soap bars sitting in the sink.
In short, the Nantucket Sinks NS09i-16 is a 23" stainless steel undermount kitchen sink that fits a deep single bowl into a compact kitchen.
Fits a 24" Cabinet Base
At 23" x 17.75" overall, the sink needs only a 24" base cabinet, leaving cabinet width in a small kitchen for a dishwasher or drawers.
21" x 15.75" x 9" Bowl
The single bowl is wide enough for a dinner plate stack and a 12" skillet, and 9" deep to keep splashing inside the sink.
16-Gauge 304 Stainless
The sink is 16-gauge 304 stainless steel in a lustrous satin finish, durable stainless steel that Nantucket says is meant to go the distance.
Insulated Underside
Nantucket sprays the underside with a special insulation to reduce condensation, so less moisture collects on the cabinet floor and on items stored below.
Rubber Padding Reduces Noise
Rubber padding applied to the underside dampens the sound of running water and dishes, which matters in a small, open kitchen.
BG09i Grid Extends Polishing Time
The included BG09i bottom grid, 18" x 13" x 1", keeps pots off the floor of the bowl, which Nantucket says extends the time between polishing your sink.
Sold separately: NS35LCC flip-top crumb cup drain.
Installation
This is an undermount sink: it hangs beneath a solid surface countertop such as granite or quartz, which Nantucket specifies for its undermount stainless sinks, and it fits a 24" minimum sink base cabinet. Nantucket's installation guide calls for professional installation; give the countertop fabricator the installation guide and follow local building and plumbing codes. The guide has the fabricator mark the cutout from a template, cut on the inside of the line, and finish the counter flush with the bowl or overhanging it by 1/8" to 1/4"; Nantucket recommends a 1/4" overhang, which gives a clean edge and hides the silicone. Clips are spaced evenly around the sink, set loosely, adjusted, then tightened. Silicone sealant is not included. There are no faucet holes, so the faucet mounts on the countertop, and the sink needs a standard 3.5" drain at the center of the bowl. The Undermount installation guide is in Resources.
Care
Clean the sink often rather than saving it for a heavy scrub: a soft non-abrasive cloth and a mild cleaner, wiped with the direction of the grain, then a towel dry after use to keep it shiny and free of water spots. For tougher stains use a mild abrasive such as Bar Keepers Friend, and remove mineral deposits with vinegar and water. Never use steel wool or bleach, do not leave cleaners in the bowl overnight or wet sponges and soap bars on the steel, wipe up salt, vinegar, citrus and other acidic foods promptly, and do not leave steel or cast iron cookware sitting in the sink.
