The Nantucket Sinks NS10i-16 is a 32.5" Sconset double bowl undermount kitchen sink with two equal bowls in a 50/50 ratio, which Nantucket calls its classic double bowl. It suits households that keep a wash side and a rinse side, or that like to hide soaking pans in one bowl while using the other, in a standard 33" sink base. Two BG10i bottom grids and two NS35CD colander drains are included.
Two identical 14.625" x 16.125" bowls, each 9" deep, make the classic split: wash in one, rinse in the other, or soak a pan on one side while the other stays free. Each bowl has a centered drain with its own NS35CD colander drain, and a set of BG10i bottom grids keeps pots and dishes off the steel. Nantucket lists the sink as cUPC certified.
It is built from durable 16-gauge 304 stainless steel with thick rubber dampening pads to dampen sound and an insulated underside to reduce condensation. Nantucket's finishing process helps keep the steel corrosion resistant to rust and oxidation, and the brushed satin finish makes daily maintenance a simple rinse.
Fitting the NS10i-16 in Your Kitchen
Sizing is straightforward. The NS10i-16 measures 32.5" x 18.125" x 9" overall. As an undermount sink it is installed beneath a solid surface countertop such as granite or quartz, and the fabricator can finish the edge flush with the bowl or with the 1/4" overhang Nantucket recommends. There are no faucet holes in the sink, so the faucet is planned separately, either through the countertop or on the wall. Nantucket's installation guide calls for professional installation. The Undermount installation guide in Resources covers the cutout and mounting.
The Sconset Collection
The NS10i-16 belongs to the Sconset Collection.
Caring for the Stainless Steel
Nantucket's care guide for its stainless sinks favors light, frequent cleaning over an occasional heavy scrub: wipe with a soft cloth and a mild cleaner in the direction of the grain, towel dry after use to keep the steel shiny and free of water spots, and lift mineral deposits with vinegar and water. For tougher stains it suggests a mild abrasive such as Bar Keepers Friend, and it asks you to avoid steel wool and bleach, to wipe up salt, vinegar, citrus and other acidic foods promptly, and not to leave steel or cast iron cookware, wet sponges or soap bars sitting in the sink.
In short, the Nantucket Sinks NS10i-16 is a 32.5" stainless steel undermount kitchen sink that gives two equal bowls with a grid and colander drain for each.
Two Equal 14.625" Bowls
Both bowls measure 14.625" x 16.125" and 9" deep, so either side can be the wash bowl and the two drains line up with a standard double bowl trap.
Grids and Drains for Each Bowl
A BG10i grid and an NS35CD colander drain for each side mean both bowls are protected from scratches and both catch food scraps from day one.
16-Gauge 304 Stainless
The sink is 16-gauge 304 stainless steel in a lustrous satin finish, durable stainless steel that Nantucket says is meant to go the distance.
Rubber Sound Pads
Thick rubber dampening pads on the underside quiet the drumming of running water and clattering dishes, which you notice most in an open-plan kitchen.
cUPC Certified
Nantucket lists the NS10i-16 as cUPC certified, and the sink is sprayed with a special insulation that Nantucket says reduces condensation.
Easy-Care Brushed Satin
Nantucket says the brushed satin finish makes daily maintenance a simple rinse; the even grain gives a low-glare look, and a towel dry keeps water spots off.
Installation
This is an undermount sink: it hangs beneath a solid surface countertop such as granite or quartz, which Nantucket specifies for its undermount stainless sinks, and it fits a 33" minimum sink base cabinet. Nantucket's installation guide calls for professional installation; give the countertop fabricator the installation guide and follow local building and plumbing codes. The guide has the fabricator mark the cutout from a template, cut on the inside of the line, and finish the counter flush with the bowl or overhanging it by 1/8" to 1/4"; Nantucket recommends a 1/4" overhang, which gives a clean edge and hides the silicone. Clips are spaced evenly around the sink, set loosely, adjusted, then tightened. Silicone sealant is not included. There are no faucet holes, so the faucet mounts on the countertop, and the sink needs two standard 3.5" drains, one at the center of each bowl. The Undermount installation guide is in Resources.
Care
Clean the sink often rather than saving it for a heavy scrub: a soft non-abrasive cloth and a mild cleaner, wiped with the direction of the grain, then a towel dry after use to keep it shiny and free of water spots. For tougher stains use a mild abrasive such as Bar Keepers Friend, and remove mineral deposits with vinegar and water. Never use steel wool or bleach, do not leave cleaners in the bowl overnight or wet sponges and soap bars on the steel, wipe up salt, vinegar, citrus and other acidic foods promptly, and do not leave steel or cast iron cookware sitting in the sink.
