The Nantucket Sinks SQRB-7SM is a 16.625" square handmade brass bar sink from the Brightwork collection, in polished, unlacquered brass with a smooth, organic surface instead of hammering. The golden interior still catches the light like sparkling ripples on the sea, with a softer, hand-formed texture, and it fits a 21" minimum base cabinet.
The square bowl is 13.5" x 13.5" and 7.25" deep, deep for a bar sink, so it handles ice buckets, pitchers and a colander of produce. It takes a standard kitchen size 3.5" drain, which means a full basket strainer fits, and it has no overflow and no faucet holes. The design allows it to be used as an overmount or an undermount, your preference, as Nantucket puts it.
The brass is unlacquered and 16-gauge. Because it is unlacquered, patina is possible right away if the sink is not waxed immediately, and it will naturally patina if left untreated; a carnauba wax coat before first use and every 6 months keeps the color closer to new. Each sink is made by hand, so slight variations exist and the dimensions are nominal, varying by up to 1/4".
Overall the sink is 7.375" tall and weighs 8 lbs. The SQRB-7 family comes in three brass surfaces, hammered polished, hammered matte and smooth handmade, and the 16.625" SQRC-7PS hammered copper and the 16.5" SQRS-7 hammered stainless are similar square bar sinks in other metals.
Installing the SQRB-7 Square Brass Sinks
The square brass bar sinks can be overmounted or undermounted. Because every hand-made Brightwork basin is unique, Nantucket's guide provides no template: the installer traces the actual rim and, for an undermount, subtracts 1/8" from the outline (adding 1/4" where an overhang is wanted). Mounting hardware, template and silicone are not included, silicone should be kept off the bowl because it can damage the finish, and a small rim bend from shipping can be flattened with a rubber mallet over a towel.
Brightwork is Nantucket's curated assortment of specialty metal sinks, inspired by the brightwork on sailboats; like sunlight sparkling on the ocean on a clear day, the brand says, these pieces bring brilliance to a bath, bar or kitchen. The collection works in hand-hammered stainless steel, brass and copper, in round, square, oval, rectangular and trough bath and bar sinks, plus kitchen sinks, a farmhouse apron and the Steppe two-tier sink, so a home can repeat one metal from the powder room to the kitchen.
Caring for Hand-Hammered Brass
Keeping the SQRB-7 or SQRB-7MF or SQRB-7SM bright is a short routine. Nantucket's brass care guide calls for a carnauba paste wax before first use and again every 6 months, a daily wash with a soft damp cloth and a little mild soap free of antibacterial or bleach additives, and a rinse and hand dry. Water spots and mineral deposits come off with Bar Keepers Friend or Brasso, while steel wool, scouring pads and sponges stay away from the finish, and face cleansers, toothpaste, wine and fruit acid should be rinsed off before they mark the metal.
The SQRB-7SM is the Nantucket Sinks 16.625" square handmade brass bar sink with a smooth, organic surface, for a bar that wants brass without the hammered texture.
Smooth Handmade Surface
The SQRB-7SM is handmade but not hammered: its surface is not perfectly smooth, with an organic, hand-formed texture that reads calmer than the dimpled SQRB-7.
Fits a 21" Base Cabinet
Nantucket lists a 21" minimum base cabinet for the SQRB-7SM, and an acacia wood cutting board, CB-SQRC-7WS, is shown with it and sold separately.
Deep 7.25" Square Basin
The 13.5" x 13.5" bowl is 7.25" deep, so a bar sink can also fill a pitcher, chill bottles in ice or rinse produce without splashing the counter.
Full-Size 3.5" Drain
The opening takes a standard kitchen size 3.5" drain, so a full-size kitchen basket strainer fits instead of a small bar drain.
Over or Under the Counter
The design can be overmounted or undermounted, so the square brass rim can sit on a finished bar top or beneath a new stone counter.
Unlacquered Brass, Natural Patina
The brass is left unlacquered, so it develops a natural patina over time if left untreated; Nantucket notes patina can begin right away unless the sink is waxed immediately, and a polish brings back the shine.
Sold separately: 3.5" kitchen sink drain, CB-SQRC-7WS acacia wood cutting board.
Installation
This handmade sink can be undermounted or top mounted (overmounted). Nantucket recommends professional installation. Because every hand-made basin is unique, no template is provided: the installer traces the actual rim, and for an undermount the guide subtracts 1/8" from the traced outline (adding 1/4" where an overhang is wanted). Mounting hardware, template and silicone are not included, and silicone should be kept off the bowl, where it can damage the finish. Wax the finish before first use. A small rim bend from shipping can be flattened with a rubber mallet over a towel. There are no faucet holes, so the faucet mounts on the countertop or the wall. The 3.5" center drain opening takes a standard kitchen size drain, sold separately; there is no overflow. The Brightwork installation guide is in Resources.
Care
Unlacquered brass needs a little routine care. Seal it with a good carnauba paste wax before first use and again every 6 months. Wash daily with a soft damp cloth and a little mild soap free of antibacterial or bleach additives (original Dawn is the brand's example), then rinse and hand dry; never use steel wool, a scouring pad or a sponge. Remove mineral deposits and water spots with Bar Keepers Friend or Brasso. Face cleansers, toothpaste, grooming products, wine, fruit acid and ketchup alter the finish, so rinse them off promptly.

Nantucket Sinks is a boutique sink maker based in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, that has designed kitchen and bath sinks for more than two decades. Its range of over 500 products brings together fireclay, stainless steel, granite composite, vitreous china, cast iron and hand-hammered metals sourced from skilled makers in Italy, China and beyond, styled with the charm of the New England coast.
Brightwork is Nantucket Sinks' collection of handcrafted metal sinks, hand hammered in brass, copper and stainless steel. Because every sink is shaped by hand, no two are identical and nominal measurements can differ slightly from piece to piece. The range runs from small round and square bar sinks to rectangular and trough-style bathroom sinks, and unlacquered pieces develop a natural patina that Nantucket treats as part of the character of the metal, not a defect.
