The Nantucket Sinks SR2522-5.5-16 is a 25" Pro Series drop-in sink with an ADA approved 5.5" deep bowl: a single 22" x 17" basin with small radius corners and one faucet hole. The shallow bowl allows for wheelchair access under the cabinet, so it suits an accessible kitchen, an aging-in-place remodel or a commercial project that has to meet ADA requirements.
Both versions share a 25" x 22" self-rimming footprint with a bowl opening, small radius corners for easy cleaning and one pre-cut hole for a single handle faucet. The topmount drop-in design makes installation simple: the rim rests on the countertop, so it suits a remodel where the countertop stays, and the 3.625" back deck behind the bowl gives the faucet a place to mount. Nantucket lists a measurement tolerance of +/- 1/8".
Nantucket fabricates the sink from premium 16-gauge T-304 stainless steel in a lustrous brushed satin finish and says its Pro Series sinks are at home in both traditional and modern kitchens. Thick rubber dampening pads quiet running water, Nantucket's finishing process helps keep the steel corrosion resistant to rust and oxidation, and the satin finish keeps daily maintenance to a simple rinse. A bottom grid and the NS35CD colander drain are included.
Fitting the SR2522-5.5-16 in Your Kitchen
Sizing is straightforward. It drops into a countertop cutout over a base cabinet at least 27" wide. The self-rimming edge rests on top of the counter, and sealant is not included. The 3.5" drain sits at the center of the bowl and takes a standard 3.5" kitchen drain. Nantucket recommends professional installation. The Topmount ProSeries installation guide in Resources covers the cutout and mounting.
Pro Series Sizes and Accessories
The SR2522-5.5-16 is part of Nantucket's Pro Series, which Nantucket created following the trend for industrial style kitchens in the home, with small radius (SR) or zero radius (ZR) corners on every model and a range that runs from bar and prep bowls to large, deep single bowls. Drop-in Pro Series options include the 25" SR2522-16, the ADA SR2522-5.5-16, the 12" deep SR2522-12-16 and the 33" ZR3322-S-16. Nantucket offers accessories to complete its Pro Series sinks, and the optional pieces listed for the SR2522-5.5-16 are the NS35LCC flip-top crumb cup drain.
Caring for the Stainless Steel
Nantucket's care guide for its stainless sinks favors light, frequent cleaning over an occasional heavy scrub: wipe with a soft cloth and a mild cleaner in the direction of the grain, towel dry after use to keep the steel shiny and free of water spots, and lift mineral deposits with vinegar and water. For tougher stains it suggests a mild abrasive such as Bar Keepers Friend, and it asks you to avoid steel wool and bleach, to wipe up salt, vinegar, citrus and other acidic foods promptly, and not to leave steel or cast iron cookware, wet sponges or soap bars sitting in the sink.
In short, the Nantucket Sinks SR2522-5.5-16 is a 25" stainless steel drop-in kitchen sink that offers an ADA approved shallow bowl in a drop-in rim.
ADA Approved 5.5" Depth
At 5.5" deep, the bowl leaves knee clearance beneath it for a seated user, which Nantucket says allows wheelchair access under the cabinet; follow ADA guidelines for the cabinet and countertop design.
Same 22" x 17" Opening
The shallow bowl keeps the full 22" x 17" top opening of the 10" SR2522-16, tapering to 21.5" x 16.375" at the bottom, so it still takes plates and pans flat.
One Pre-Cut Faucet Hole
A single hole is pre-cut in the deck for a single handle faucet, so there is no drilling and the faucet lines up over the bowl.
Self-Rimming Drop-In
The rim rests on top of the countertop and covers the cut edge, which Nantucket says makes installation a breeze compared with an undermount sink.
Premium 16-Gauge T-304 Steel
The sink is fabricated from 16-gauge T-304 stainless steel, a premium gauge Nantucket chose for maximum durability in a sink that works every day.
Easy-Care Brushed Satin
Nantucket says the brushed satin finish makes daily maintenance a simple rinse; the even grain gives a low-glare look, and a towel dry keeps water spots off.
Small Radius Corners
Small radius corners keep the crisp lines of a professional sink but leave a slight curve at the base that a sponge can follow, which Nantucket notes makes cleaning easier.
Sold separately: NS35LCC flip-top crumb cup drain.
Installation
This is a drop-in (topmount, self-rimming) sink for a 27" minimum base cabinet. Nantucket recommends professional installation. Following the Pro Series topmount guide, the template is used for the bowl cutout only; the sink is set in the opening, the male clips are inserted into the female clip fasteners on the sides of the sink, and each clip is tightened against the underside of the countertop until the rim lays flat. Sealant is not included. One faucet hole is pre-cut in the deck, and the sink needs a standard 3.5" drain at the center of the bowl. The Topmount ProSeries installation guide is in Resources.
Care
Clean the sink often rather than saving it for a heavy scrub: a soft non-abrasive cloth and a mild cleaner, wiped with the direction of the grain, then a towel dry after use to keep it shiny and free of water spots. For tougher stains use a mild abrasive such as Bar Keepers Friend, and remove mineral deposits with vinegar and water. Never use steel wool or bleach, do not leave cleaners in the bowl overnight or wet sponges and soap bars on the steel, wipe up salt, vinegar, citrus and other acidic foods promptly, and do not leave steel or cast iron cookware sitting in the sink.
