The Nantucket Sinks TRB2416-OF is a 23.5" x 15.5" hand-hammered brass trough undermount bathroom sink with an overflow, the larger of the Brightwork brass troughs. Its 21.5" x 13.5" basin gives a primary bath or a wide vanity a generous, statement-size sink in polished, unlacquered brass.
The basin is 6" deep, deeper than the 4" TRB-OF, so it holds more water for washing and handles splashing better in a busy family bath. Overall the sink is 23.5" x 15.5" x 8" and weighs 13 lbs, so a wider vanity cabinet is needed; the TRB-OF is the compact 19.8" trough in the same finish.
Each trough is handcrafted, so every sink is slightly different from the next, and Nantucket notes the welds are done by hand to give a truly artistic finish. Designed to be undermounted, the sink sits below the vanity top so the countertop edge frames a long rectangle of hammered brass, and a built-in overflow with a 1.5" center drain opening takes a standard lavatory drain.
The brass is unlacquered and polished, so patina is possible right away if it is not waxed immediately, and it will naturally patina if left untreated. Nantucket marks it as needing special care and maintenance, which means a carnauba wax coat before first use and every 6 months, mild soap and a hand dry after use. The dimensions are nominal, varying by up to 1/4".
Installing the TRB Brass Troughs
These brass troughs are designed to be undermounted, and Nantucket calls for professional installation. Because each sink is handmade, measure the actual trough before the vanity top is cut, and choose a standard lavatory drain made for an overflow sink. There are no faucet holes, so the faucet mounts on the countertop or the wall.
Brightwork is Nantucket's curated assortment of specialty metal sinks, inspired by the brightwork on sailboats; like sunlight sparkling on the ocean on a clear day, the brand says, these pieces bring brilliance to a bath, bar or kitchen. The collection works in hand-hammered stainless steel, brass and copper, in round, square, oval, rectangular and trough bath and bar sinks, plus kitchen sinks, a farmhouse apron and the Steppe two-tier sink, so a home can repeat one metal from the powder room to the kitchen.
Caring for Hand-Hammered Brass
Keeping the TRB-OF or TRB2416-OF bright is a short routine. Nantucket's brass care guide calls for a carnauba paste wax before first use and again every 6 months, a daily wash with a soft damp cloth and a little mild soap free of antibacterial or bleach additives, and a rinse and hand dry. Water spots and mineral deposits come off with Bar Keepers Friend or Brasso, while steel wool, scouring pads and sponges stay away from the finish, and face cleansers, toothpaste, wine and fruit acid should be rinsed off before they mark the metal.
The TRB2416-OF is the Nantucket Sinks 23.5" hammered brass trough bathroom sink for a primary bath, a statement-size basin in polished, unlacquered brass with a built-in overflow.
Large 21.5" x 13.5" Basin
The TRB2416-OF's basin is 21.5" x 13.5" and 6" deep, a roomy hand-hammered brass trough within the 23.5" x 15.5" exterior.
Statement-Size Brass
At 23.5" x 15.5" overall, this is the larger brass trough, so the hand-hammered polished brass becomes the centerpiece of a wide vanity.
Overflow Built In
A built-in overflow guards against an accidental fill to the rim, and the 1.5" center opening takes a standard lavatory drain made for an overflow sink.
Hand-Welded Brass
The brass is hand hammered and hand welded, so the seams and texture carry the maker's hand and no two troughs are exactly alike.
Unlacquered Brass, Natural Patina
The brass is left unlacquered, so it develops a natural patina over time if left untreated; Nantucket notes patina can begin right away unless the sink is waxed immediately, and a polish brings back the shine.
Undermount Clean Edge
Mounted beneath the countertop, the trough leaves a continuous vanity edge, so water wipes straight in and the brass reads as a framed, inset accent.
Sold separately: 1.5" lavatory drain with overflow.
Installation
This handmade sink is designed to be undermounted. Nantucket calls for professional installation. Because every hand-made basin is unique, no template is provided: the installer traces the actual rim, and for an undermount subtracts 1/8" from the traced outline (adding 1/4" where an overhang is wanted). Mounting hardware, template and silicone are not included, and silicone should be kept off the bowl, where it can damage the finish. Wax the finish before first use. A small rim bend from shipping can be flattened with a rubber mallet over a towel. There are no faucet holes, so the faucet mounts on the countertop or the wall. The 1.5" center drain opening takes a standard lavatory drain with overflow, sold separately.
Care
Unlacquered brass needs a little routine care. Seal it with a good carnauba paste wax before first use and again every 6 months. Wash daily with a soft damp cloth and a little mild soap free of antibacterial or bleach additives (original Dawn is the brand's example), then rinse and hand dry; never use steel wool, a scouring pad or a sponge. Remove mineral deposits and water spots with Bar Keepers Friend or Brasso. Face cleansers, toothpaste, grooming products, wine, fruit acid and ketchup alter the finish, so rinse them off promptly.

Nantucket Sinks is a boutique sink maker based in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, that has designed kitchen and bath sinks for more than two decades. Its range of over 500 products brings together fireclay, stainless steel, granite composite, vitreous china, cast iron and hand-hammered metals sourced from skilled makers in Italy, China and beyond, styled with the charm of the New England coast.
Brightwork is Nantucket Sinks' collection of handcrafted metal sinks, hand hammered in brass, copper and stainless steel. Because every sink is shaped by hand, no two are identical and nominal measurements can differ slightly from piece to piece. The range runs from small round and square bar sinks to rectangular and trough-style bathroom sinks, and unlacquered pieces develop a natural patina that Nantucket treats as part of the character of the metal, not a defect.
