The Nantucket Sinks ZR2818-8-16 is the 8" deep version of the 28" Pro Series zero radius undermount sink: the same 26" x 16" single bowl and 30" cabinet fit, with a shallower basin. Nantucket notes the 8" depth is ideal if you need a little more clearance under the sink, for a disposal, a filtration system or pull-out storage, or if you prefer not to reach as far down to the bowl floor.
Nantucket designed this Pro Series rectangle for a compact sink base. Its 90 degree corners add space in the bowl and give a fresh, modern industrial look, and channel grooves in the bottom divert water to the centered drain for proper drainage.
Nantucket fabricates the sink from premium 16-gauge T-304 stainless steel for durability and says its Pro Series sinks are at home in both traditional and modern kitchens. Thick rubber dampening pads quiet running water and dropped utensils, and the underside is sprayed with insulation to reduce condensation inside the cabinet. Nantucket's finishing process helps keep the steel corrosion resistant to rust and oxidation, and the brushed satin finish keeps daily maintenance to a simple rinse. A BG2616 bottom grid, sized 25.75" x 16.75" x 1", and the NS35CD colander drain are included.
Fitting the ZR2818-8-16 in Your Kitchen
Sizing is straightforward. The ZR2818-8-16 measures 28" x 18" overall. As an undermount sink it is installed beneath a solid surface countertop such as granite or quartz, and the fabricator can finish the edge flush with the bowl or with the 1/4" overhang Nantucket recommends. There are no faucet holes in the sink, so the faucet is planned separately, either through the countertop or on the wall. Nantucket's installation guide calls for professional installation. The Undermount installation guide in Resources covers the cutout and mounting.
Pro Series Sizes and Accessories
The ZR2818-8-16 is part of Nantucket's Pro Series, which Nantucket created following the trend for industrial style kitchens in the home, with small radius (SR) or zero radius (ZR) corners on every model and a range that runs from bar and prep bowls to large, deep single bowls. Single bowl sizes run from the 15" SR1815, ZR1815 and SR1515 bar sinks through the 23" SR2318-16, 28" ZR2818-16, 30" SR3018, 32" SR3218-16, SR3219-16 and ZR3219-16 to the 36" SR3618-16, with depth variants such as the 8" ZR2818-8-16, the 12" SR3018-12-16 and the 5.5" SS-PRO-ZR3018-5.5. Nantucket offers accessories to complete its Pro Series sinks, and the optional pieces listed for the ZR2818-8-16 are the NS35LCC flip-top crumb cup drain and Deluxe Colander 16.
In short, the Nantucket Sinks ZR2818-8-16 is a 28" stainless steel undermount kitchen sink that fits a square-cornered single bowl into a compact base with a shallower depth for more clearance below.
8" Depth Frees Cabinet Space
The shallower 8" bowl sits 2" higher in the cabinet than the 10" ZR2818-16, which Nantucket says gives a little more clearance under the sink for plumbing and storage.
Less Reach to the Bowl Floor
An 8" basin means less bending to reach the bottom of the sink, while the 26" x 16" footprint still takes sheet pans and cutting boards flat.
90 Degree Corners
Zero radius 90 degree corners square off the bowl, which Nantucket notes adds usable space at the base of the walls and gives the sink its modern industrial look.
Channel-Grooved Floor
Grooves pressed into the bottom of the sink divert water to the drain, for proper drainage, as Nantucket describes it, so rinse water is directed to the opening.
Premium 16-Gauge T-304 Steel
The sink is fabricated from 16-gauge T-304 stainless steel, a premium gauge Nantucket chose for maximum durability in a sink that works every day.
Quieter, Drier Cabinet
Thick rubber dampening pads cut the hollow ring of running water and clattering dishes, and a sprayed insulation layer reduces the condensation that can drip onto items stored in the cabinet.
Easy-Care Brushed Satin
Nantucket says the brushed satin finish makes daily maintenance a simple rinse; the even grain gives a low-glare look, and a towel dry keeps water spots off.
Sold separately: NS35LCC flip-top crumb cup drain, Deluxe Colander 16.
Installation
This is an undermount sink: it hangs beneath a solid surface countertop such as granite or quartz, which Nantucket specifies for its undermount stainless sinks, and it fits a 30" minimum sink base cabinet. Nantucket's installation guide calls for professional installation; give the countertop fabricator the installation guide and follow local building and plumbing codes. The guide has the fabricator mark the cutout from a template, cut on the inside of the line, and finish the counter flush with the bowl or overhanging it by 1/8" to 1/4"; Nantucket recommends a 1/4" overhang, which gives a clean edge and hides the silicone. Clips are spaced evenly around the sink, set loosely, adjusted, then tightened. Silicone sealant is not included. There are no faucet holes, so the faucet mounts on the countertop, and the sink needs a standard 3.5" drain at the center of the bowl. The Undermount installation guide is in Resources.
Care
Clean the sink often rather than saving it for a heavy scrub: a soft non-abrasive cloth and a mild cleaner, wiped with the direction of the grain, then a towel dry after use to keep it shiny and free of water spots. For tougher stains use a mild abrasive such as Bar Keepers Friend, and remove mineral deposits with vinegar and water. Never use steel wool or bleach, do not leave cleaners in the bowl overnight or wet sponges and soap bars on the steel, wipe up salt, vinegar, citrus and other acidic foods promptly, and do not leave steel or cast iron cookware sitting in the sink.
