Wide bronze blade on a square shank

Wide bronze blade on a square shank

The ACCS110 has a 2" wide blade on a 7" chisel with a 1/2" square shank, so it locks straight into the chisel holder of a Novatek 12, 19, 28 or 35 chisel scaler. The wide edge peels flaking paint, rust and scale in broad strokes, and the aluminum bronze body is the alloy Novatek offers for hazardous areas.

Keep one with the scaler for jobs where site rules call for a spark resistant tool, such as work near tanks and fuel lines, and switch back to steel chisels for routine scaling.

Find answers below or contact our support team.

What does spark resistant mean here?

The chisel is made of aluminum bronze, a non-ferrous alloy that Novatek offers for use in hazardous areas where a steel chisel striking steel could throw sparks. Your site's hot-work and hazardous-area rules still apply, and the scaler itself is not built for explosive atmospheres.

Which scalers does it fit?

Any Novatek scaler running a 1/2" square chisel holder: the 12 Inline, 19 Inline, 19PG, 28PG (square holder) and 35 chisel scalers, or one of those needle scalers fitted with its 1/2" square chisel holder. It does not fit the 5/8" hex holder.

How does it compare with a steel chisel?

Aluminum bronze is softer than tool steel, so expect the edge to wear faster and keep it for the jobs that need a spark resistant tool; use standard steel chisels for general scaling.
