The 35 drives thirty-five 4mm chisel tip needles at 1800 blows per minute from an offset pistol grip. Thicker needles and a slower, heavier stroke break up paint systems built up over years, while a sliding front tube lets you reset the bundle as the tips wear.
It is the scaler to reach for when a lighter tool only polishes the surface: heavy scale on structural steel, old coatings on concrete and pack rust in plant maintenance, with the weight to keep working without being leaned on.

Novatek rates the 35 at 8.5 cfm (240 lpm) of air, and the tool is meant to run at 90 psi at the inlet. Use a 3/8" bore airline, keep the run to about 50' where you can, and put a filter, regulator and lubricator in the line so the air reaches the tool clean, dry and oiled.
The needle scaler ships with 35 x 4mm chisel tip needles. With a 3mm needle holder it takes 49 x 3mm needles for a finer finish.
The 35 carries a heavier 4mm needle bundle and a slower, harder 1800 bpm stroke for very thick coatings, heavy scale and concrete, at the cost of weight: 12.3 lbs against the 28PG's 8.3 lbs. For general rust and paint removal the 28PG is easier to handle.
The 35 needle scaler plus a spare 4mm and a spare 3mm needle holder, a spare anvil and return spring, a 1/2" square chisel holder, 3/4" and 1 3/8" cranked chisels and a straight chisel, a 100 pack of 4mm flat tip needles and a 250 pack of 3mm chisel tip needles.
Yes. Put three drops of light machine oil into the air inlet before you start, and run an inline lubricator if you have one. Novatek's manual notes that running its scalers without air preparation could void the warranty.
No. Novatek says the 35 is not built for explosive atmospheres or for work close to flammable materials, and a steel needle striking steel can spark. Wear hearing and eye protection and a dust mask suited to the coating you are removing.
