Tip shape sets the finish

Tip shape sets the finish

Flat tip needles strike with a blunt end, while chisel tip needles concentrate each blow on a narrow edge; chisel tips are what Novatek fits as standard in its needle scalers. Beryllium copper needles add a spark resistant option for places where a potential spark or fire hazard exists.

Match the tip to the coating and the job, and the needle diameter to the holder fitted in your scaler, before you order.

Got Questions?

Find answers below or contact our support team.

Which needle diameter fits my scaler?

It depends on the needle holder fitted. Novatek InLine, 19PG and 28PG scalers take 2mm or 3mm needles, the 28PG and 35 also take 4mm, and the 35 has no 2mm holder. Change the holder when you change diameter.

How many needles does a scaler hold?

With 3mm needles, the 19 InLine and 19PG hold 19, the 12 InLine holds 12, the 28PG holds 28 and the 35 holds 49. With 2mm needles, the 19 InLine and 19PG hold 51 and the 28PG holds 65. With 4mm needles, the 28PG holds 19 and the 35 holds 35.

Why is the bulk case count approximate?

Novatek sells bulk cases by weight, 22 lbs (10 kg) each, so the needle count on a case is approximate.

How far should the needles stick out?

About 1". As the needles wear, loosen the Allen screw, pull the front tube along the intermediate tube until roughly 1" of needle protrudes, and retighten.

When should I use beryllium copper needles?

Where a spark could start a fire, such as on oil platforms or in chemical plants. Beryllium copper needles are made for spark resistant applications.
