Every FlexShaft ships with three working heads: a 6" cutter scaling head, a heavy-duty chipping leaf head and a 6" wire brush. The cutter wheels cut hardest, for heavy rust, scale and two-part epoxy; the chipping leaves come fitted as standard and leave a surface ready for most modern paint systems.
The wire brush is the gentler option, for light rust, paint and final finishing. Swapping heads takes the supplied wrenches, so one machine covers rough removal through to prep for coating.
The FlexShaft puts its drive motor on a skid or swivel base and sends the power down a flexible shaft to a dumbbell handle with a guard. The operator carries only the handle and head, reaching under piping, around decks and into wheelhouses.
Leave the motor in one spot and work a wide area around it. On the electric model, use the shortest extension cable you can; on the air model, keep a steady 90 psi at the motor.
The 110 V electric FlexShaft uses a 1 hp, 12.5 amp splash-proof motor on a skid, with a thermal protector that stops the motor if it overheats. The air model runs a 1.5 hp air motor on a swivel base, fed at 90 psi.
Pick electric where shore power is handy and air where a compressor is already running for other tools. Novatek asks for at least 70 cfm of supply for the air motor, so size the compressor with some margin.

Both models come with a heavy-duty chipping leaf head, a 6" cutter scaling head and a 6" wire brush, plus the guard and wrenches. Novatek also makes twisted wire and cup brushes as separate accessories.
The 110 V electric model needs a 15 amp, 110 V supply. The air model runs at 90 psi, and Novatek asks for at least 70 cfm at 90 psi from the compressor.
Novatek gives a life expectancy of about 50 hours for the cutter heads.
A thermal protector opens the motor circuit and stops the tool. Switch the motor off, let it cool, push the protector to reset and try again after 15 minutes; if it trips again, look for the cause before continuing.
Run it at 90 psi. Do not let the operating pressure fall below 80 psi or rise above 100 psi, keep moisture out of the air line and keep the inline lubricator filled with air tool oil.
