The steel long reach puts a bundle of 28 x 3mm chisel tip needles at the far end of a long steel body, with a padded handle grip at the operator's end. The needles strike at 2200 blows per minute, so the tool does the work while you walk it across the surface instead of kneeling over it.
On decks, loading docks and concrete floors, rust, scale and old coatings come off without a day spent on your knees, and the operator stays upright for the whole shift.

Novatek rates it at 5 CFM, so a portable compressor can run it. Keep the pressure at the tool between 80 and 100 psi (90 psi is correct), use a 3/8" bore airline, and fit a filter, regulator and lubricator with a moisture trap.
The 2' tool is 30" overall and 14 lbs, handy for close work. The 5' tool is 65" overall and 17 lbs, long enough to scale a floor or deck standing upright. Both hit at 2200 blows per minute; the 5' is louder at 93-97 dBA against 82-89 dBA.
Set the front tube so about 1" of needle sticks out, and as the tips shorten, loosen its cap head screw and slide the tube back to restore that 1". When you replace the needles, note the order of the anvil, needle holder, needles and spring inside the intermediate tube, since a wrong assembly damages the tube.
Yes. With the air disconnected, unscrew the needle attachment and thread the 5/8" hex chisel holder onto the cylinder, then tighten its cap head screw. The holder takes Novatek's 5/8" hex chisels and the Long Reach Scraper Complete heads. The holder, scraper heads and blades are sold separately.
Rest the needles on the surface with only enough pressure to keep the tool steady; leaning on it does not speed it up and leaves a less even finish. Never use it as a lever, and do not tape the throttle open or leave it running unattended.
Put a few drops of oil into the air inlet before use and oil it daily while in service with an ISO VG 22 air tool oil, ideally through an in-line lubricator. In very cold weather use an anti-freeze air tool lubricant, and keep the airline free of water and dirt.
