The SteamSpa RYT1200CH-A is a 12 kW Royal Series steam generator package with dual touch control panels, plus two polished chrome steamheads and AutoDrain. This SteamSpa 12 kW steam shower generator turns a sealed shower enclosure of about 147 to 315 ft³ into a home steam room, and it suits a household that wants to start the steam from outside the shower and adjust it from inside, with color lighting and a water filter already in the box.
The Royal package has two touch control panels: one inside the steam room and one outside, so you can start the generator from outside and adjust the steam from inside the room. SteamSpa's QuickStart technology brings steam in about 1 to 2 minutes, and the dual-tank design keeps it flowing without interruption. Either panel sets the steam time from 1 to 60 minutes and stores two favorite settings as SET1 and SET2, and the panels keep a real-time clock and switch between °F and °C. When the room reaches your temperature, the steam stops.
Sized for 147 to 315 ft³ Steam Rooms
SteamSpa's sizing chart lists 12 kW for cabins from 3' x 7' x 7' (147 ft³) and 4' x 6' x 7' (168 ft³) all the way up to 5' x 9' x 7' (315 ft³), the largest room on its single-generator chart. SteamSpa adds that it is safe, and even recommended, to choose one size step above what the chart shows. At 12 kW the generator suits a large steam shower or a two-person steam room, and because the steam is produced outside the enclosure, the shower itself only needs its steamheads, a control and a properly sealed enclosure.
Chromatherapy Light and Water Filter
A multi-mode LED chromatherapy light sits in the ceiling of the steam room and adds color to the session, and steam enters through two polished chrome steamheads that release scent into the mist, and the box includes aroma oil. An inline water filter is included too: it sits on the water supply and traps rust, sediment and scale-forming minerals before they reach the tank, which protects the heating elements and is something SteamSpa requires on every installation. SteamSpa recommends pairing this package with its SSD-STMKIT Complete Essentials Installation Kit, which gathers a solid brass pressure reducing valve with gauge, a water shut-off valve, a 20" steel flex hose, the unions that form a quick release system and 90 degree elbows for the steam line.
Relief Valve and AutoDrain
On this -A model, AutoDrain opens 30 minutes after the steam shuts off and drains the tank for about 7 minutes, which limits mineral buildup between uses. The generator measures 21.06" W x 9.21" D x 15.16" H and holds 330 in³ of water, building steam at 5 psi, and a pressure relief valve opens automatically if the tank pressure ever passes 15 psi. The generator has a hanging groove for wall mounting and must be installed level, so its water level sensor reads correctly.
Power, Plumbing and Placement
Plan the power and plumbing before the walls close. At 12 kW the generator draws 50A at 240V single phase on 6 AWG copper wire, with its own breaker and a power disconnect within sight of the unit, and it can sit in a closet behind the shower, a vanity cabinet, the attic or the basement, as long as it stays indoors, dry, protected from freezing and less than 25' from the steam room. The 10.5 kW and 12 kW generators have two steam outlets, and each outlet gets its own steam line to its own steamhead.
With about 147 to 315 ft³ of steam room in reach and two polished chrome steamheads in the shower, the SteamSpa RYT1200CH-A gives you a complete 12 kW steam shower package from one brand, ready for a licensed electrician and plumber to install.
Features
12 kW for 147 to 315 ft³
SteamSpa's sizing chart matches 12 kW to a large steam shower or a two-person steam room of about 147 to 315 ft³, so the generator is matched to the room's volume; SteamSpa says choosing one size up is safe and even recommended.
Dual Touch Control Panels
One panel inside the steam room and one outside let you start the steam before you step in and adjust it once you are seated, with two saved settings.
QuickStart Steam
SteamSpa's QuickStart technology brings steam in about 1 to 2 minutes, and the dual-tank design keeps it flowing continuously, so a session starts with little waiting.
Polished Chrome Steamheads
Steam enters through two polished chrome steamheads; each sits on its own steam line from its own generator outlet, about 12" above the floor, pointing down.
AutoDrain Included
On this -A model, AutoDrain empties the generator tank on its own after each session, which limits mineral buildup and saves you a maintenance step.
Automatic Pressure Relief
A pressure relief valve comes in the package and opens automatically when tank pressure passes 15 psi, an added layer of protection for the generator and the home.
Inline Water Filter Included
The included inline filter traps rust, sediment and scale-forming minerals on the supply line, protecting the tank and elements, and SteamSpa requires one on every install.
Chromatherapy Lighting
A multi-mode LED chromatherapy light mounts in the ceiling of the steam room and adds soft color to each session, and switches on and off from the control panel.
Standard 50A, 240V Circuit
At 12 kW the generator runs on a dedicated 50A, 240V single-phase circuit with 6 AWG copper wire, its own breaker and a power disconnect within sight of the unit.
Whisper-Quiet Operation
The Royal generator is engineered for low-noise output, so the generator in the closet, attic or vanity stays in the background while the steam room fills.

Installation & Care
Installation
Electrical: 12 kW at 240V single phase draws 50A; run 6 AWG insulated copper wire rated 194°F and 300V on its own breaker, with a power disconnect within sight of the generator and a proper ground. Plumbing: a 1/2" hot or cold supply at 15 to 20 psi through a pressure reducing valve, the inline filter and a quick connect and release fitting, in copper or brass only (no PEX or PVC), with inlet water no hotter than 160°F. Run 3/4" copper or brass steam pipe with curved elbows, sloped so condensation drains back, with no valves and no dips, insulated where it can be touched, and keep it off any wall material not rated to 240°F. Mount the steamheads about 12" above the floor, outlet down and away from any bench, keep the temperature sensor or control off the steamhead wall, seal every pipe and fitting with 100% silicone caulk, and add an exhaust fan outside the steam room. Leave 12" of clearance on both sides and the top of the generator. SteamSpa requires a licensed electrician and a licensed plumber, and the installation manual is in Resources.
Care
Let the AutoDrain finish before you switch off the breaker, so the tank is empty. Replace the inline filter cartridge at least every 6 months, clean the water supply pipes once a year, and have the generator, steamhead, pipes and fittings checked for leaks every year. About every six months, a technician can remove the cover and clean scale off the water level sensor prong. Wipe the steamheads with soapy water and a soft sponge, never with harsh chemicals or abrasive tools. Children under 16 should not use the steam room, and because SteamSpa generators are not boilers, check with your local inspector before any commercial use.
