Max-Flow Membranes for Low Pressure

Tucker's Max-Flow RO membranes come in 4" x 21", 4" x 30" and 4" x 40" sizes, all designed to operate at extremely low operating pressures. The 40" fits the H2Pro, Rival V2, Max Output and Fill N Go.

Match the length to your housing: the 4060 runs two 30" membranes, not 40". Tap pressure drives RO output, around 50-60 PSI for residential work.

Read the Membrane Label First

Read the Membrane Label First

Each Max-Flow membrane carries a model label on its wrap showing the size, so you can match it to your housing before you install it.

Fit the white O-ring end at the top of the housing and insert the other end first. The end nipples may need a little silicone lubricant to seat into the housing O-rings without forcing them.

When a Membrane Needs Replacing

When a Membrane Needs Replacing

Replace an RO membrane once it removes less than 80% of the impurities in your water. Compare its TDS reading with your tap water to check.

A tired RO passes more solids to the DI stage, so you pay for it in resin. Keep membranes wet and run them every two weeks, even off-season, or store them with RO Preserve.

Which membrane fits my Tucker system?

The Max-Flow 4" x 21" fits the Compact and Skid/Wall Mount systems, the 4" x 30" is the 4060 membrane, and the 4" x 40" fits the H2Pro, Rival V2, Max Output and Fill N Go.

When should I replace my RO membrane?

Tucker says to consider it once the membrane removes less than 80% of the impurities in the water; below that, your DI filter costs climb.

How long does an RO membrane last?

Tucker's manuals say membranes have a much longer service life than pre-filters and may last the life of the system, but they are warrantied for factory defect only and can lose performance over time.

How much water pressure do I need?

RO output depends on incoming pressure and, to a lesser extent, temperature. Tucker's manuals say adequate residential volumes are typically reached around 50-60 PSI, and a booster pump can help with low pressure.

How do I store a membrane over winter?

Never let it dry or sit with stagnant water; run it at least every two weeks. For long-term or freezing storage, Tucker's Fill N Go manual calls for RO Preserve (#20000).

Do I need lubricant to install a membrane?

Often. The 21" and 40" membrane pages say water-resistant lubricant may be required, and the manuals say the end nipples will likely need it to seat in the housing O-rings.
