Mytee's spec sheet rates its vacuums at 200 CFM and 130 in of water lift and the heater at 210°F maximum. It runs on two 50 ft twist-lock cords, and Mytee's manual says to plug each cord into its own grounded 20 amp circuit, so plan the power before you start. The spec sheet lists 135 lb. Skip it if you only have small spots to treat.

The Tornado PS spotter lists 84 inches of static water lift, 2 gallon tanks and 8 ft hoses. It is the machine to carry for a single spot, not for a whole room.

Step 1: Vacuum and treat the spot
Vacuum the dry carpet first, because dry soil turns to mud once the machine sprays water. Then pre-treat the source. For urine, use a urine enzyme digester or an oxidizing (peroxide-based) odor treatment. Test it on a hidden spot and apply enough to reach as deep as the urine went, often into the backing and pad. Follow the label's dwell time before you rinse. A food or drink spill usually needs only a regular pre-spray.
Step 2: Flush with hot water

Mytee's manual sets the start-up order for a heated Speedster. Run the pump with the wand trigger held until the flow is steady, then turn on the heater, give the water a few minutes and only then start the vacuums. Heater first causes a vapor lock. The manual also warns against acid rinse or high-alkaline chemicals such as sodium hydroxide in the 1003DX, which damage the pump and void the warranty, and calls for low-foam detergent. Apply strong odor treatments with a hand sprayer and use the machine to rinse.
Work in slow overlapping passes so every strip gets the same amount of solution and the same number of vacuum strokes.
Make a wet pass, then a dry pass over the same strip with the spray off. Repeat until the recovery hose runs clear. The Tornado PS lists no heater, so it rinses with whatever water you fill it with.
Step 3: Check the pad
After extraction, smell the spot again. If it is still strong, lift the carpet at a corner or a seam and look at the pad. A pad that smells of urine, or that stayed wet for a long time after a leak, usually has to be cut out and replaced, because pad foam soaks up liquid and holds it. If the water came from sewage or outside floodwater, the IICRC S500 standard classes it as Category 3 and calls for removing the carpet and pad, not cleaning them; see Category 3 water damage. Wear gloves when you pull the pad.
If the pad is sound, it dries in place. Check the subfloor too, because a stained one keeps the smell alive. Clean a stained subfloor with the same urine treatment, let it dry, then seal it with an odor-blocking primer before new pad goes in.
Step 4: Dry carpet and pad fast
A damp carpet smells musty again within a short time, so drying is part of removing the odor. Air movers push air across the surface, and a dehumidifier takes the moisture out of the room.

- Using only baking soda or a spray. These cover a smell and do not remove its cause.
